Title: What's the application of choice to design your own CP?
Post by: Dcpmark on January 28, 2013, 01:17:30 pm
Can be PC, Mac, or online-based. I saw the MAMERoom Control Panel Design Service app, and it made me wonder what else was out there? The current panel in my cab is a HotRod SE, but I want design my next CP. No expensive CAD programs, please.

I use Photoshop to play with the layout of the buttons, graphics, etc but when designing the entire control panel "box" I use Sketchup.  It's free, user friendly and very versatile.

DraftSight is an excellent CAD program, and is free.  Works with Autocad files.

Oh, wow! I totally forgot about Sketchup because I haven't used it in a few years....thanks!

Anyone use the one I mentioned that is designed for designing control panels?

I always use illustrator.
It is suitable if I then print graphics.  I prefer objects over layers in photoshop but it's kind of the same thing.
