Getting back to a project of mine, picking up where I left off.
I'm trying to set the controls for NullDC.
I goto OPTIONS/MAPLE/PORT A (and B) and I have an assortment of listings.
I'm using an iPac hooked up via USB, but I also have a keyboard hooked up with the standard keyboard connection.
Anyway I select keyboard, but nothing pops up allowing me to adjust any keys.
I took some crappy pics with my iPhone.

The keyboard in the list is the keyboard peripheral for the dreamcast.
You should be setting that to a controller.
What is it with you and mapping controls? :lol
You can't use keys like CTRL or ALT in NullDC btw.
-
I'd like to get it mapped to match my iPac settings as best it could.
@ Bad Mouth, sometimes man I just can't win !
My buddy gave me a controller for N64 and an adapter.
He suggested that for N64 and Dreamcast emulation I stick with the controller.
I have decided I like NullDC as opposed to Demul.
NullDC loads the games and based on the intros runs at a good speed.
It's just trying to figure out mapping the controls.
Now I have a clue, so I appreciate that.
So do I select Dreamcast controller ?
I'll map the keys I can, less the keys that are not iPac friendly.
I'll need to try my testing via the N64 controller.

Well, if your iPac settings include those oddball keys, you'll have to use autohotkey or something.
Why people get hung up on using the default MAME keys is beyond me.
It's easy to change and it avoids headache after headache down the road.
You can even reprogram you iPac and not have to rewire anything.
:dunno

I was actually thinking of trying the auto hot key.
Never worked with it before, but thought about giving it a shot.
Thanks again

Any good AHK tutorials someone can point me to ?
This would be a first for me (using AHK) and trying to match the key codes.
So I'm quite lost.

You could take a look to AllInOne...

I'll give it a look.
Thanks !
Anything I can do to get these emulators working would be great.

Looking online I see tons of people reference the problem, and talk about the solution.
HOWEVER no fixes I found.
I don't know much about AHK, if someone could help.......................I'd be happy !
Do a custom MaLa layout for them ?
-
I've been reading all kinds on issues with NullDC and iPac's.
Everything seems to point to AHK as the possible fix, however nothing posted or made available to help others with the problem.
I've also read it is not good to flash the ipac repeatedly.
I've read some tutorials on AHK, but honestly I'm lost.
I have a 2 player, 6 button control panel, wired with iPac.
I thought I'd ask if anyone can help me to resolve the issue, match the Null DC configuration to match that of an iPac.
More than willing to do a custom MaLa layout in return should anyone be interested.
My keys :
1 SW 1 L-ctrl
1 SW 2 L-alt
1 SW 3 space
1 SW 4 L-shift
1 SW 5 Z
1 SW 6 X
2 SW 1 A
2 SW 2 S
2 SW 3 Q
2 SW 4 W
2 SW 5 I
2 SW 6 K

No help ?

Why don't we make it easier?
Download headkaze's vjoy program..... remap all your ipac's keys to joystick buttons... now you don't have to deal with keyboard issues.
Been doing this key faking thing for years now. The lesson I've learned when it comes to apps that don't like your input method is to just convert it to joystick input. It's a clunkier solution in that you have to install a program like vjoy or ppjoy, but it's more reliable.
-
Great, thanks.
I'll do my homework on this.
Thank you

I have the same issue as the poster. I have the joy program referenced and using xarcade tank stick however even with this program it won't map. Am I doing something wrong?
