Title: Shelling Windows 8
Post by: gamepimp on January 26, 2013, 02:04:57 pm
Has anyone done this yet? I am thinking of upgrading from XP to 8, but want to shell into my frontend. Right now I use InstantSheller on a diff rig with Win 7. I think 7 and 8 are similar enuf that it might work for both. But wanted to be sure it would work before springing for 8.

If windows were to break the shell command it would break compatabilty with nearly every single app developed over the last 10 years.  Pretty sure they wouldn't do that.  ;)

So using a program like IS will change the same registry settings to boot directly into the FE program then? I'm not all that familiar with what exactly is changed in Windows to allow for this. But I'm guessing based off ur comments and the fact that IS can be used for XP and Win 7, that it should also work on Win 8?

Yeah unless they've done a major change I'm not aware of there shouldn't be any issues.
