Title: Have a HAPPS 3" Trackball-- fades to the side... how can I fix this?
Post by: dgrams2000 on January 25, 2013, 10:39:34 pm
So I have a HAPPS 3" USB Trackball in my control panel... when I spin it up.. my arrow fades slightly left as the ball slows.
When I zip it down it fades a tad to the right.

Took the ball and the rollers out.. gave everything a good cleaning.. but still happening.
I think it may have happened since I bought it.. but now its years later...

What parts do I need to concentrate on to fix this?

Not sure what is fixable/replacable on these things.. or if I will just need to get a new one to fix this?  :(

My 3" happ has done that since I bought it.  You might try working a couple drops of light oil in to the bearings to see if that frees up a spec of dust that might be in one of them.  Not much else to do.  I can't imagine the rollers being worn.  After 20 years in the field with all manner of gunk getting tracked in there maybe, but certainly not from home use over the course of even a decade.

Happ trackballs just suck. I think it's a matter of a slight warp in the housing or something, given the conditions and apparent commonality of the issue.

I think the Golden Tees and Silverstrike bowlings, etc, have used Betsons. The spinning of them is way better, and goes straight. By the way, this topic belongs in Main or Miscellaneous Arcade.
