Title: Dedicated flightstick if I use a u360?
Post by: epetti on January 23, 2013, 03:05:00 pm
I had originally been planning on a dedicated flight stick for my control panel to use for all analog games and flight games.  I like the look and feel of it, and the fact of buttons on the stick.  I was looking at something like the Happ B-8.  But I see nothing but rave reviews for the Ultrastik 360.  What are people's experience of using that for analog games versus a dedicated flight stick?  Do you feel like you lose anything by not having the flight stick size and feel and buttons directly on the stick?

dgame's answer is pretty funny, but true. It just won't feel the same. Personally, I don't think I'd try games that way (ie use a 360 and normal buttons). I put a dedicated flight stick on my cp, but in hindsight, I almost never use it.

Yeah, I was looking at the number of games I might use it on, and it's about three.  I don't think it's worth a dedicated spot just for that.  I was thinking I would use it in replacement for a wheel for racing games as well, but thinking more, the spinner is probably a better choice for that.

I went with the frankenpanel concept for my build. But, in hindsight, a 2p panel with a single spinner and track ball would have done the trick for 95% of the games we play here.

Swappable panels are really a great idea too, but complicate things quite a bit. Still, there are some really good examples floating around the forums here, if that might of interest.
