Yeah...
It's too bad I'm gonna win 'em huh?
Just Kidding...
Well not really...
-
Wow this is so cool. That's a really generous offer KevSteele.
And if you wanna rig one for me, i sure could use that ArcadeVGA or spinner *wink wink* haha, just kidding. Again, this is real cool of you.
-
Are yoou going to make a reminder each week? If not I will move this to Everything else and sticky it.
-
SirPoonga,
I wasn't planning on a weekly reminder message, but I certainly could. Whatever you think is best (sticky or a weekly reminder).
I definitely don't want to "spam" the forum with contest messages, but I do want everyone to get a chance at one of the goodies ;)

So, um, when does the, uh, SlikStik DIY cabinet giveaway start? :)

So, um, when does the, uh, SlikSyik DIY cabinet giveaway start? :)
About the same time the D9200 giveaway starts...
(What's the NRA slogan? "You can have my SlikStik cab when you pry it from my cold, dead fingers?" Or something like that. ;))

I believe it's "Red D9200 cables don't shock people. People shock people."

Very generous and great idea since you have some of the stufff lying around.
Question: Why do you have some of this stuff lying around? Some of the items, I could see not need three joysticks, or whatever, but other items like the arcadevga and even the slikstik handles I would of thought you would of kept following your reviews. Hope this doesn't mean you are tearing down your cab or anything of the like.
BTW, Can't wait for the next great review.
-
2600,
Don't worry, I'm not going to give away my cab. :o
I've already got an ArcadeVGA card installed, and my new SlikStik controller uses Happ Perfect 360 joysticks, which aren't compatible with the SlikStik joysticks I was sent for the review (they sent the handles for the competition joystick base, which is what I had in my old SlikStik)
I've got the SlikStik balltop steel handles in my new SlikStik. :)
Some of the items are review units, some are things I bought myself, and some are extras that I asked for from the companies specifically for a giveaway. And one (the power strip) was a 2nd unit that was shipped to me by accident (and they told me to keep).
I'm sure I could have eBay'ed all the stuff, but that just doesn't seem to be keeping with the spirit of MAME.
This way is more fun. :)
Kevin

this is VERY GENEROUS of you.....
Kevsteele.....
-
So at one a week and christmass approx. 7 weeks away--factor in shipping time--I should get my new arcadevga card just in time to meet santa ;D
I feel like a kid again trying to win one of those mail in contests from the newspaper we used to have (must be some dirt in my eye--sniff, sniff)
YOU ROCK MAN! ;D
-
Menace,
That was the plan -- think of this as the "7 weeks of Christmas" ;)
Kevin
-
Does your generosity ever end?
First your contribution to the forums.
Then your written reviews.
Then your video reviews.
Then your 7-weeklong weekly Giveaway.
And now, donating your cab to me personally.
What a guy! :)
ps. Honestly, your contribution to this community was greatly appreciated even before this latest act of generosity. Thanks,
JamIt
-
Man you guys! The winner will be drawn at random. Prizes aren't given for he best arse-kissing.
Just kidding. Thanks Kev. This is brilliant. My 'bribe' cheque should be hitting your letter box any day now ;D
-
i'm sending in 100 emails forthat arcadeVGA, it's mine, all mine MuhahahahahahaahhaHAHAHAHAHAHAhahahahaha
;)
-
I'm guessing i can't enter cause im in australia oh well
Thanks for your contribution to the mame community and the arcade community in general your an asset to the forums ;D

NiN^_^NiN,
There are no restrictions on country for this week's giveaway.
(I may have to restrict country for the X-Arcade and HotRod giveaways due to their size, but the joysticks are small and should travel relatively cheaply.)
Feel free to enter.
CitznFish,
I know you're joking, but just to make it clear to anyone who gets the bright idea of "spamming" a bunch of entries -- multiple entries will result in disqualification.
I don't think I can handle an inadvertent mailbombing of multiple entries, as I'm averaging an entry every 3-5 minutes as it is!

3-5 per minute. perhaps this was posted on some sweepstakes websites.

Actually, just 1 entry every 3-5 minutes. 20 an hour, roughly, and it's finally slowing down a bit -- just 10 this last hour.
I see occasional "spikes" as the news gets posted to MAME sites in other countries - I had a wave of French entries a day or so ago.
It's interesting to see how strong the interest is.
Kevin
-
Out of curiosity you have no way of knowing if a person entered more than once through different emails, do you?
Time to make several thousand hotmail and fe.mamehost email addresses ;D
-
SirPoonga,
Actually, I've already caught a couple of people using multiple Hotmail/Yahoo email addresses (and no, I'm not telling how I caught them -- after the bandwidth attacks on my site last month, let's just say I've gotten good at tracking down people on the Internet. ;) )
It always amazes me how some people can take a "no strings attached" offer and abuse it to the point that I have start adding strings. :-\
Luckily, the vast majority of people have been playing by the rules (and I've gotten some hilarious notes in the process!)
Next thing you know there will be a lawsuit filed against me for the emotional distress caused when someone doesn't win the joysticks. ::)
Kevin

Three to five PER MINUTE? Yeesh. These are joysticks made of STEEL, right? Not some precious metal?
Wow. I was under the impression that this offer was just for us BYOACers, not the entire retrogaming world. I have no idea why I thought that. :)
Oh, well.

No, No, No -- check my posts again: One entry every 3-5 minutes. (I can suddenly see how rumors get out of control on the Internet ;) )
And it's actually slowed to a trickle as of this evening, so the odds are better for everyone.

Sorry, for some reason my reading and comprehension skills are on the fritz. Maybe it is time for a brain cap kit. :)

great reply!

Thanks for the contest :)
Its a shame that people always have to try and take advantage.
Maybe one way to check is to see if the person whos wins email addy matches the one they use on the forums. Just an idea.
-
