Title: Grayhound Skill Crane help...
Post by: Metalman1661 on January 13, 2013, 05:24:12 pm
I picked up a pretty beat up Grayhound Skill Crane recently and an trying to get it back to working condition.

I replaced a fuse located in the double fuse holder with a 4 A fuse and i got the 'play's and 'timer' module to show '00' when plugged in.

When i plug in the machine nothing happens. I read somewhere the machine is supposed to 'home' it self.

The coin door was detached from the machine when I got it. I hooked it back up but when i click the coin trigger it does not add plays to the machine. The bill acceptor takes in a bill but spits it back out every time.

I tried playing with the dip switches but nothing happened.

Any suggestions?

I don’t believe the bill acceptor is the cause of the machine not working, I just figured I would note what was happening.

I will have to wait to tell you the model of the bill acceptor for when I get home.

To my knowledge the only model this claw machine has is the revision on the CPU board which is REV-2.

This Grayhound Skill Crane has the 'newer' 3 board setup. It has a joystick as opposed to the 2 button control scheme. This unit consists of the crane cpu board, crane relay board, and the board with the transformer on it that powers the bridge and crane.

To someone that is familiar with these machine, does it sound like possibly an IC chip on the CPU board can be bad? I have no way of testing nor do I know how since I rarely use a scope.

I am going to start testing continuity to all switches soon.

Any ideas?

EDIT - Typos

I am working ont he bill acceptor now.

It is a Rowe OBA Accepter with a Rowe OBA Control Unit. The bill goes in and comes right back out.

Does anyone have any manuals for either of these units?
