Title: Converter Outputting RGB Instead to Component?

Hey, just had a quick question about a converter I'm going to purchase.  My goal is to output Sega Saturn (through RGB) and MAME from my PC (VGA) to my RGB monitor at 15kHz (my video card is compatible).

Now, my question is, would this be sufficient to provide a converted SCART Saturn cable to the' RGB in' as rCadeGaming did in his "My Analog A/V Setup" topic:

...or use my PC's VGA to the 'RGB in' and then get a proper 15kHz RGB signal if I routed the "R G B and S" signals to my TV?

I ask because this seems like it would work just fine, but the way I traditionally see this done is by using "RGB" converted to component signal (as displayed in rCadeGaming's post (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,129501.0.html (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,129501.0.html)) and also, for instance, this post: http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,95833.0.html (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,95833.0.html))

I just wanted to make sure before I take any unnecessary risks.  Any response/opinion will be greatly appreciated.

A lot more details are needed here to provide any kind of answers.

1.  What kind of monitor/TV do you have?  What's the model number?  What resolutions can it display?  What inputs does it have; RGBS, RGBHV?

Btw VGA is a form of RGB.  It's just another name for RGB with seperate horizontal and vertical sync (RGBHV), as opposed to RGB with composite sync (RGBS; horizontal and vertical sync is combined and carried on a single line).

2.  What is this "converter"?  What's the model number and what does it do?

My monitor will accept RGB signals and so this will work if it happens to be a transcoder.  After talking with some people though, they made me realize that in actuality it's probably an upscaler, as the inputs allow for composite signal to be output to RGBS.  As for more info on the "upscaler" (maybe), that's the thing; I couldn't find any more info, manuals, anything, even after putting in the model number.  I think I'm going to actually just shell out the money for one of the transcoders you listed in your other posts (TC1600).

A transcoder is for converting from one colorspace format to another.  For example, VGA (RGBHV) to component (YPbPr).  The Saturn outputs RGB and the PC outputs RGB.  If the monitor accepts RGB, why do you need to convert anything?

It doesn't sound like you need a transcoder at all.  At most you just need combine the H and V sync from the PC to C sync for the monitor.  Don't go spending any money until you're clear what's going on.  I'm sorry, but I can't even tell if you're just confused or you're screwing with me.  More details are needed.  I'm not making any more posts until you answer the questions in my previous post.
