I need some help because I suspect I am doing something dumb here but I can't get any of the Exidy shooters to work on a newer version of MAME. They work fine on an older version (.089) but when I try to run them on .145 I get the dreaded ROM or CHD not found error. I have the ROMs in the ROM folder so MAME see's the game but they won't run. Other games work fine though.
So what am I doing wrong? Any ideas?
Thanks

The roms have probably been renamed or updated in that time.
You need the version of the rom meant to work with MAME v.145

I have tried to find later versions of the ROM's but there doesn't seem to be any that I can find. Take Cheyenne, I can only find version 1.0 of it anywhere. I think others have gotten the Exidy games to work with later versions of MAME but I can't figure it out :banghead:

I'm not talking about the revision of the arcade board.
MAME roms do not stay the same over time. They are renamed, re-organized, redumped, etc.
There is a good chance that a rom from the time MAME v.89 will not work with MAME v.145
You need roms intended for MAME v.145
A lot of old ones will work (if no changes were ever made to them), but a fair number will not.

- 0.113u4: Exidy440 driver update [Zsolt Vasvari]: Added video timing from schematics. Added the 9 timing PROMs to the ROMsets.
So MAME is now looking for things that aren't present in your old roms.
A ROM newer than v.113u4 will probably work, but it's best to have ones that match your version of MAME.

Yup I figured out what was missing and found the timing PROMS in another ROM, Yukon I think it was. Anyway Once I added them to the ROM's they all worked fine.
