Title: Help needed with getting namco gun replaced with aimtrak (DIY KIT OPTION)
Post by: lodoss118 on January 06, 2013, 10:08:52 am
Hi I was wondering if anyone could provide or help me convert 2 namco guns to work with aimtrak and retain the recoil functionality (similar to what RetroACTIVE has done). I am willing to pay off course and would prefer someone in the UK?

If this goes anywhere I too would be interested, I seem to have arrived late, after retroactive and like lodoss I have very basic soldering skills if any.

Also from the UK

Are you trying to do this?

minus the machine gun setting on this recoil gun? (the pink one is on the mode i think you are talking about)
Both those guns use Aimtracks, its not a big job to make them recoil but the rapid fire was alot of work, had a few discussions with the maker of the AIMtrack to make it safe for all parts concerned.

Hi epicfatigue if you could create a plug and play kit for us namco gun users that would make life much easier, can you explain the process and how easy it will be to install and what we will need.

Hey,

Yeah i guess i can make a printed PCB and put the components on it with a little print out of instructions, all you would have to do is give it 5vdc gnd and one other wire.

Once i finish it i will create a printed PCB and use SMD components

Hey everyone,

Here is what you get in the kit.
Its very simple comes with a wiring diagram, this offers recoil as well as semi automatic and full automatic
The modes are controlled via a toggle switch (not included) reason being is everyone is different and my mounting option might not suit you.
Its made on a simple vera board to keep costs down and to keep it small.
All units are hand built by me and tested before they ship out.

I dont make a profit on these its my contribution to the arcade community, its first in best dressed and at my own time.
The kit requires a small amount of soldering, and at this stage requires a Aim-track mo-dual for recoil

You pay shipping and parts of course.

You get the Unit Rapidfire/recoil.
Wiring diagram.

Q: What else will this unit work on?
A: The Small PCB will work on anything micro-switch, but only per button, so if you want a button to have the ability to be rapid fire it can be done.

Q: How does it work?
A: It is a very simple timing circuit, it charges a small capacitor that pulls the Transistor low (sends a ground signal) its rock solid and reliable its commonly used in high end gaming equipment.

Q:I don't like the trimming of your recoil speed can i change it?
A: Its programmed to be an exact replicator of time crisis two machine gun mode, yes you can change it my prototype had a trim pot installed which allowed me to tune it to where i wanted it, its a very simple mod.

I am not always on this site as frequently as i would like to be, you can contact me more promptly from my website.
Its still under contrustion but i have left the contact section open for you all.

I could be interested in something like this also.
I have been looking into guns a lot lately and I see the Aimtrak is the way to go.  Thing is whenever I think of gun games in the arcade I thing of the Namco guns with the recoil, so I don't want to buy a pair of Aimtraks only to regret it with every trigger pull.

The Namco gun mod, as cool as it is, is monstrously expensive so I need to hum and ha over it for some time longer but I will be keeping an eye on this.

If someone can come up with either ready to go setups or easy as hell to mod versions I could very well be tempted.  I'll just never tell anyone how much they cost ;)
