Hi guys,
i'm currently blocked in my mamecab project and this post is here to see if some of you, artwork genius, can help me to go further.
I've currently made a prototype of my control panel:
(http://imageshack.us/a/img443/4058/controlpanelprototype.th.png) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/443/controlpanelprototype.png/)
I'm pretty satisfied of what it looks like, but the pictures i gathered from internet are too tiny to be printed on the right dimensions of a control panel. I understood it needs vectorization in order to be stretched without any loss of quality. If you could help me in such a process it would be so great
The other point i'm stuck with is the font i wanna use for the marquee- . I want to write down there the name of the cab: "the gameover machine". And i'd like to have the same font (or similar) to this:
(http://imageshack.us/a/img594/4416/gamem.th.jpg) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/594/gamem.jpg/)
Not again it needs also vectorization, but it also needs to design the "THE" and "MACHINE" in a similar design. That's far away from my skills.
If you wanna help, i'll post here bellow the pictures i used for my proto. As i don't know yet the exact position of buttons, don't bother with their position. I can do the assembly myself if they are big enough.

(http://imageshack.us/a/img849/4988/midamkidpaddlemonsterat.th.jpg) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/849/midamkidpaddlemonsterat.jpg/)
*: not yet any prototype for the marquee at this point. :dunno

To convert your images from raster to vector format, you may want to look at Vector Magic (http://vectormagic.com/home).
I assume you already have Inkscape or some other vector image editor to work with.

Thanks Scott,
that's exactly what i needed! :applaud: i got 3 out of 4 pictures automatically vectorized by vector magic. The last one* doesn't give a good result. i don't get the reason...

If you look at the picture the background is a gradient.
If you flatten or delete the background and let vector magic convert the characters and the rock, it will probably work much better.

Thanks for your help, Scott.
I tried that but the result was still inaccurate. The problem was that the drawing of the barbarian was not contrasted enough, i think. So i made a copy of this picture and i reduced it to 2 colours only, then i assembled the original and the copy. The result was a full coloured picture with the lines more marked. That time vector magic gave acceptable results :applaud:
So finally, i've only one problem remaining: the fonts. When it's only photoshop manipulations, i can handle by myself, but here it needs new drawings from scratch. Could someone help me with that? to remind you the problem: For the marquee, i wanna write down the name of the mamecab, the gameover machine, in a font somewhat similar to the name of the comics above.

How about this font? http://www.dafont.com/arfmoochikncheez.font?text=The+GameOver+Machine&fpp=50
If you tweak the font settings in photoshop, letter distance mostly you might get acceptable results. The rest is photoshop blending effects (outline stroke, vertical gradient and such). If you use the font you can use it also as typeface for "coin", "start" or even in your frontend.
