No thanks!  No convex buttons for me. Now if the buttons were concave, it might be a different story...

Well I got more than a few crazy acrade ideas yet to fullfill but damn 1000 buttons thats ALOT of arcadepanels  ;)
Also is it one color / carton? If enough people where intressted perhaps we could make a joint order, but if its 1000 of the same color....

Well, I would probably buy a few...  Especially if you can order all the colors (100 yellow, and 400 red, 300 blue, 200 green??)  But I think you will have the get a 1000 of each.

I would guess that it would take you a year to sell that many here...

So SirP... looking at starting up another buisness?

Is there anywhere online to buy those old volcano looking buttons? The black cones with a small transparent red button in the middle that used to be the one and two player start buttons, you know.

Regarding the volcano buttons, you can only get them NOS.  No one makes them new anymore.  Expect to pay a premium for them.

I was checking out the rest of the site, and the prices are very good - in quantity.  Pity about that.

Dammit,  >:( We finally find someone whos finally making translucent microswitch buttons and it just figures that they are convex. I know that they're popular in Japan but when it comes to my childhood convex buttons were definately not a part of it. For me it doesn't REALLY matter because I have and love the translucent concave leaf switch buttons in my cabinet but the only problem with them is that they demand so much room underneath my control panel. So I might have tried these since they and any microswitch button  require much less space but not if they only come in convex style and not if I have to buy a closet full of them. Some of the younger builders around here would probably like them since some of the later fighters had them and to younger folks they might feel authentic but I was out of the arcades long before convex buttons started popping up on some of the games. I might have used them for menu buttons though.

Two things: first, I don't think anyone here has $15,000 to drop on 1,000 buttons (one color).

Second, spidermonkey I note you're using Superman as an avatar.  There can only be one true Superman, I'm it, you gotta change.   ;D

Someone can't do math.
It'd be $150.  They are $0.15 each! Not $15.
If you can get someone like Bob Roberts to pick up a carton....

Heh...'duh' on me.  I was half asleep at the time, and fully asleep five minutes later.

Hey, That S stands for me (SpiderM. not Superman. ;D Alright alright I dug up my old one. (which I hate)  :P. If I wasn't such a tart I could download a gif somewhere and use that but I tried to and couldn't get it to work. ::)

btw, does anyone know if their micro switchs are any good?  They are MUCH cheaper then bob roberts or happs....  But there could be a reason for it.

Also, they have a pretty cool looking joystick for cocktail tables (very very small base) but they could be to small.   Trouble is they have a minimum order of a 100...

Yeah...
I got a quote a while back for these things... I thought it'd be a cool thing to resell here on the boards & elsewhere, but I'm not sure about reselling THAT many buttons that are convex... Most people are looking for concave buttons.

You can get a mix of the colors as long as you order in quantities of 1000...
It's $150 for the buttons, but then it's another $151 for shipping.
So total cost to a local reseller would be about $0.31 a piece...

Their microswitches are Cherry microswitches (at least that's what they call them...)
And they are $0.40 a piece... $400 for the switches, & another $105 for shipping...
So the switches end up around $0.51 a piece...

(Combined shipping would be $211... So you'd save a few bucks there...)

But like you guys said above... It's too bad they are convex...

That's some expensive shipping!  Didn't realize the things were so heavy!

Yeah...
They weigh quite a bit when you've got 1000 of 'em, but it's also shipping overseas...

Oh well...

Actually if a carton of those convex buttons weighs 33 lbs. (15kg) like it says, they are not that heavy.  An average horizontal pushbutton weighs about .7 oz.  This makes their total weight (without the carton) 43.75 lbs. for 1000 horizontal pushbuttons.

35 lbs ain't light!
It's not extremely heavy, but that's quite a bit when it comes to shipping overseas...

Anyhow, the point is moot...
It's too much for any of us to risk that much $$$ to maybe be able to sell enough to make the $$ back...

Perhaps a few of us can chip in and buy these....I'd be willing to pony up some cash...$100 or so if we could get a mix/match color set...

Ive emailed them to see if they can produce concave versions.  Lets wait and see what they reply... as that would be a better option Imop.   Ill reply if/when they do.

I doubt it.... looked at the design  they are already on my panel.  :)  You know those buttons with clear center that had removable label inserts? (popular in the early 90's) It's those buttons, they just casted them in translucent colors.  It's one of the few designs that happs doesn't own.  You'd probably have to convince happs, not those guys.

I can tell you what their reply will be...They don't have anything that is not on their site.  I don't believe they actually make any of their products, they get most of their stuff from various countries across Asia.  And to answer the question about mixing different colors.  If the quantity says 1000, then its of all one color, so to get multiple colors, you need to order multiple thousands.  I have done business with these guys in the past.  Good people, but you have buy a large quantity to break even considering they only ship UPS express which can be a lot when coming from Hong Kong.
