Title: Am I getting the right parts for my project?
Post by: Felsir on December 27, 2012, 11:18:41 am
I'm creating my shopping list for my new arcade project. I would like to order the right parts the first time :-)

The cocktail cabinet I'm building will be a 2 player one with 6 buttons per player. The cocktail table only has 15 cm (6 inch) between the inside tabletop and the bottom with 5 cm (1.9 inch) clearance underneath the controlpanel itself (the photo in this topic (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,129313.msg1322293.html) shows what I'm planning to achieve). I think a Seimitsu balltop would fit nicely in there. I made a cabinet before so getting the controls hooked up shouldn't be a problem, it is the illuminating part that I would like to hear about.

From the various topics (especially the RGB showdown (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,121965.msg) topic) I think the "pele ring" method is a very elegant way of iluminating the pushbuttons, so I'm very iterested in getting those.
The ones I'm interested in is labelled #7 in the thread linked above "IL Clear Translucent Pushbutton W/ Pele Ring".
I also like to illuminate the two balltop joysticks.

So what I think I need is:
From Arcade Paradise:
12x Pele rings
12x IL Clear Translucent Pushbuttons
2x Seimitsu LS-32-01 Joysticks, 30mm white bubble balltop, hollow shafts, 5v RGB LEDs
And From Ulitmarc the PACLED64 controller (that's worth 24 RGB LEDs right?)

I'm a bit confused about the wires and such, in some FAQs I find that each LED requires an additional resistor while in other posts I read that adding light is a matter of getting the wires attached correctly between the controller and LEDs. What wiringkit would be the most convenient to use? Do I need anything else?
Any advise, do's or don'ts you can share? Any help is appreciated!
