Title: Just bought GP WIZ 40 ECO and it is malfunctioning
Post by: insectorx on December 10, 2012, 10:12:04 pm
I got the solder version of the GP WIZ 40 ECO from groovygamegear.com.  I finally got done soldering all the wires to the board and the buttons to plug it in and find that about half of the buttons are pushing on and off automatically or not working at all.  I've done a nice clean job of soldering the wires onto the board, and I took my time doing it.  I don't feel like there is any way my soldering broke this thing.  How am I to know weather or not this thing showed up broken or not,  because the only way to test it is to hook up all the wires and test it.   Also, I can't find any posts online where anyone else is having this problem.  I hope they take this as a return, because I'm quite positive that I have received a faulty product.

Does anyone have any advice?

Are you sure you have all the grounds daisy chained to all the switches?
Also make sure you are using the common (COMM) and Normally Open (NO) contacts on each switch.
Although it doesnt matter which wire goes to which switch connection, it is common practice that all the COMM go to ground on the wiz, and each NO contact on each switch goes back to its input on the wiz.
If all this is correct, it could be a bad wiz, I have found them to be static sensitive. Thats why I think it is important to use the trackball ground and to ground your coin door.
