wish i had a solution to share

i tried adjusting the SCREEN knob on the flyback transformer, but it didn't make a difference. theres only so 'black' the tv will go

i expect its just an issue in tube quality/build, nothing more

the conclusion: it seems some tv's produce 'blacker' blacks than others

now.. will someone delete this ---smurfin---' thread before Furry131 types somethin' else...  :lol

CRT's tend to produce the best black levels of any display technology when calibrated correctly.

If there's no fixing it, it's probably just a very worn out tube.  Sorry to hear.
