I am building a mini Arcade for a friend which will house a PII 333mhz CPU. Which version of MAME should I use for this one?
Thanks,

I like .61
but the latest is good afaik. I haven't heard anything bad yet about the new release.

With a machine that speed, I would go with an older version of mame that performs better, like .036 or 0.37.

.36 I believe is the last version that has 8bit color... This really speeds up a lot of games.
This was a big change in speed.
I would look at that.

How do you find older versions of Mame32? Sorry, don't mean to look dumb, I have searched the Mame32 site http://www.classicgaming.com/mame32/

btw, dont run mame32 if you are worried about speed.
Thats your first speed up there...
Go command line if possible. of course with those old versions, the command line is DOS... but thats ok... you shouldn't be using winNT or XP on that system anyway. 98 runs the dos version just fine. You might have a sound card issue... but you will probably be fine.
Also, look at non-mame emulators wherever possible. Almost every other one is MUCH faster then mame.

I'm working on a project with a 400 mhz machine running .59. Works great, I can run over 90% of the roms.
