I've seen a few Xbox Steel Battalion controllers on CL recently. I dig mech warrior on Xbox, might I like SB? It looks super complicated.

I have one. Cost an arm and a leg in freight to get to Australia! I haven't played it much this year, but I don't regret it at all. I recently did some preventative surgery on my xbox so that I can play it years from now. It's the only reason I have an xbox :)

I always wanted to take a game that required a ton of buttons and make a giant Steel battalion type control panel. I'm actually surprised no ones thought of that. Or maybe I just have never seen anyone do it.
For example I always wanted to make a armored core master of arena control panel. That would be nuts.
Or a mechwarrior for PC one yesss.
Or a descent Freespace 2 one OMFG.
Why am I not doing this right now.

Oh man AC master of arena was the best AC game ever made still have my copy, the steel battalion controller can be used on pc mechwarrior so you might be able to use it on freespace also just need to mod in a USB cable.

Keep in mind that the two joysticks are very different.
The one on the left only travels along the x-axis, and the one on the right has full range of motion but has no return to center.
There is a PC driver for it, dunno how current of an OS you can have with them, but the controller can be used for pretty much any PC game that you can map controls from a controller to.

I wanted one of those and had chance to get one, but I was told that the Xbox 360 version with Kinect would be the mutts nuts.
Next time I will go with the impulse buy.
You will need a specialized desk like PBJ had.

I googled the 360 version and wow, IGN rates it as "Awful 3/10."
Ahhh PBJ... I do miss that guy.
This seems like a pretty cool setup:
