Title: Presenting my CP
Post by: Serpent on October 31, 2003, 09:39:41 am
Hi! I've just finished my second control panel. I posted pictures of it some time ago, before painting. I've used a paint gun. I've added a MAME logo cut in wood and the arrows and 'coin' and 'start' labels in vynil. I think I've got a very attractive result with the silver and blue colors. It uses a PSX pad and the stick is a IL's Mando muelle (Ultimarc's T-stik). I hope you like it.

Definately nice job!!! I'm with dphirschler, how did you do that logo. Also since it say's Mame on it I assume it will connect to a PC, but why the PSX connector (unless you have an adapter or somthing)?

SWEETICUS!!!

What Playstation controller did you use for your  hack.

I'm trying to find a nice cheap controller to hack?

Nice job!

He said how he did it "I've added a MAME logo cut in wood"

Just small painted pieces of wood.

Thank you for all your nice words. The reason for using a psx pad hack is that the psx interface is so popular that I can use it with PC and with my Dreamcast too thanx to adapters. I have two usb adapters for PC which work great, and other two adapters to plug psx pads into Dreamcast, which also work flawlessly. Ironically I do not have a psx or a ps2, but I also have the chance of using it with them. I think I could even plug it into a xbox, because I'm sure there must be PSX to Xbox adapters too. BTW, I printed the MAME logo reversed in a transparent sheet and used a cutter to cut it in wood (not thick wood). Then I sanded it and applied some filler to mend the little defects. I'm sorry I don't remember the model of psx pad hack. Any cheap pad will be ok to solder. Look for any of those models with transparent case. I got it for 5 euros. Mad Catz, High Frequency, etc make cheap psx pads.

So it is cut out of one piece of wood?  I have done bigger stuff on a band saw before.
