Never heard of it I'm afraid, but I did recently read Steven L. Kent's The Ultimate History of Video Games (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0761536434/qid=1067550890/sr=5-2/ref=cm_lm_asin/104-9722225-4336769?v=glance) and I'd recommend it in a heartbeat.

Have you also read his book "The First Quarter - 25 year history of video games"?
Just wondering how similar they are if you have.... I bought the book years ago, but haven't got of my arse to read it all yet.... as I'm not much of a reader unfortunately (I blame playing to much video games growing up on that)... as much as I've enjoyed what I have read.

They're the same book, The First Quarter was just picked up by a major publisher and re-released as Ultimate History. I believe it has some more info on newer systems (PS/GC/Xbox) but otherwise it's the same.

This is correct. Although, there are also about 300 error corrections in the retitled version.
I've also read a bit of GameRoom from time to time. It's a narrow target market, and covers all sorts of pinballs and mechanical games as well as vids, but I find it a good read now and then. Is Tim Ferrante still the head honcho over there? He knows his pre-vid history very well.

I got a book called The Illustrated History of Electronic Games. TONS of great pictures and info - a good coffee table book.
