Building this *amazing* slimline evolution for my in-laws and I've hit a brick wall. The theme is "Man with No Name"...whatever.. :laugh2: because my father in-law is a big western guy from the 50s. But, I know nothing about westerns and know less about photoshop. So, the only thing I've come up with is some clip art from around the webs. And none of it is jiving with me.
First, I did get the approval of the CP. It looks like this:

But, they want to incorporate this image in the marquee:

I want to keep the image on the left side of the marquee and fill in the rest with text over it, while making it sepia like the CP while keeping the red glowing embers of his cigar. But, I'm lost after the CP in a big way. I don't know how to fill in the right side of the marquee...don't know how to change the pic to sepia and keep the red glowing ember and can barely get the damn thing to past properly into my 31.5 x 6 marquee.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
Here's the cab it's going in:

Thanks for any help!!

Here's a really quick mockup. I just put an old west photo background behind it. Just a thought!

Or "The Man with no Game" :laugh2:

Wow. that looks really good. If it's in photoshop, can I get a copy of it?
Thanks,
AJ

Sure, PM me your email address.

Got to have some bullet holes. I suppose you could think of how the old "Wanted" posters were laid out and text styles. How about "A fistful of quarters"?
Some info on the character (shame on you for not knowing already ;) )

My submission.

Man, leChuck, I like that one, too! Anyone want to put the PSD files up?

Nice font and execution. :applaud:
Shouldn't that be the second cab built in the series, followed by "The Good, the Bad, and the MAMEd" for the third? ;D
"A Fistful of Dollars" was the first movie in The Man with No Name trilogy, so a variant done in this style/font with "A Fistful of Quarters" would be my recommendation.
Bonus points if there's a well-placed bullet hole to go with that smoking gun.

Updated - the .psd is 21mb so I'll need an email addy to send it if interested.

I like both of these better than "The Man with No Name". He is called both "Blondie" and "Joe" so I don't care for that phrase. They are both more arcady as well.
Nice work LeChuck.

OK, so with all this awesome help, I've decided to totally steal LeChuck's work (I tweaked a couple color setting on both the CP and marquee so they match) and I'm sending it to print! My completely stalled cabinet will now be completed! Yay!
I have to say, being in IT for so long, it still amazes me the level of talent it takes to manage such a complex art form. Hats off to both LeChuck and yotsuya for all the help!
This should help get my wife off ---my bottom---, too! She's results oriented and doesnt' see all the agonizing I've done over the art for the past few weeks. The Blue Pill came together so easy art-wise because of its simplicity and help from WolliEnz. But conceptually I was stumped and I don't know the toolset well enough to say "what about this". With The Blue Pill, I had a clear focus of what I wanted so I just learnt the tool to do that.
Amazing help guys! Thanks a lot! LeChuck, since we're so close, I can buy you a beer (or several) some time. I'll post up the pics later tonight. But, it is a BLATANT ripoff of LeChuck's work, so I'll be hiding his name in the marquee somewhere...

Glad I could help. First time I touched photoshop was in 2004(ish) when I was working on my first cab. Had a friend from work who did his masters in digital photo editing and he started showing me stuff. I'm no whiz but after all these years I can usually crank out something that fits the bill. Stick with it, you'll get it down in no time. FWIW this was done in CS3. I really should upgrade but meh.
