Title: Picture off center after inverting sync
Post by: stiffpeter on October 29, 2003, 11:53:59 pm
I am trying to use CPS2 games with a Neotec NT-2515 monitor.  When I turn it on it doesn't sync.  I am able to get a steady picture only when I invert the composite sync from the CPS2.  Other games that I have that aren't CPS2 work fine without the inverter.  Is it that CPS2 is neg composite sync and the monitor is positive composite sync or the other way around?  Now for the problem.   When the signal is inverted, the picture is shifted about 2" to the left with the horizontal position pot at minimum.  I can move it more left, but it needs to go right.  Is there a solution to this?  Thanks for any help.

Capcom CPS boards (as with all modern JAMMA boards) generates composite negative sync. The Neotec accepts negative sync. Use the Horizontal hold control to roughly center your picture then use the horizontal position control to fine tune it.

Thanks for the info.  I have tried what you said, but to no avail.  The only way I get a synced pic with the CPS2 is when I use a 7404 inverter for the composite sync.  Any non-CPS2 game works without the inverter and is not synced with the inverter.  This is what I don't understand.  For example, Killer Instinct works without the inverter, yet it outputs negative sync.  What am I missing?  I can post pics if needed.

Pete -

I am having the same exact issue with a Jamma board - Street Fighter II The World Warrior (negative composite sync).  I could not sync it no matter what I tried and then I inverted the sync.  Afterwards, the sync would hold on the same monitor as you (Neotec 2515-C).  However, the picture is off center to the left and I cannot adjust it right.  I I use a different board like TMNT without the hex inverter it syncs fine and the picture is centered.  Any update on this issue or what I could do to get SFII centered?

Yeah...figured it was a long shot.  I've searched a lot and this is the only post I found with my same issue.  Obviously, there are still some people perusing the forums, so I was hoping to catch someone that may have an actual solution to the problem.  If anyone can help, it would be appreciated.  Thanks!
