Well, with the news of the last true arcade down the shore gone into the ocean, I now have a hankering to replace what was lost with a multi game cabinet.
I plan to make it look like your basic pac-man machine, but be able to play other games like Arkanoid as well.
Now, here is the question. Jamma games are all inter changeable. But what about the classics? The ones I care about are : Popeye, Pac, Mrs.Pac, Galaxian, Arknoid, Qbert, Paperboy, and one or two others. Star Wars would have to be a seperate cab due to controller space.
I'd Love to use all original boards if possible. Or one of those multi game boards. Any ideas on what the best options are?

The problem that you will encounter is that the classics you list came out before the Jamma standard was adopted, so each has different requirements.

I'll check out the link. What about power? do all games get powered by the same source, no matter the type? With my current setup, I have one power source, the Jamma Connector, and the Jyrok(I beleive) RGB convertor and I'm up and running

I'm sure paperboy would need it's own cab for the same reason star wars does... ;) As far as multiboards take a look at the 60-in-1 or, if your budget allows, the ArcadeSD board sold by phoenix arcade.

the Arcade SD board looks like it could work... but it says you have to provide your own roms. I take it all you have to do is load the rom zip file onto the SD card, plug it into the board, and the board plays instantly?
if so, this would work perfect. I'd be able to have Pac-Man and all the others in one cabinet with one power source and one jamma connector. The trouble would then fall on cutting the wood to put this thing together :).

there is a program you run on your computer that transfers the roms to the sd card. Its pretty easy... Yea those little jamma boards make this hobby a lot easier. No interface boards (ipac, etc..), no windows configuring, no front end configuring etc.. etc.. Then again you are linited to what's available (mostly classics) on those less powerfull boards... ;)

it'd be even cooler if you could wire it so for four player games like Simpsons, you could press player 1 2 3 or 4 buttons and the proper character comes up. That way, you only need one or two joy sticks and you don't have to switch wires to get the character you want :).

OK, so the next question is, what's a good plan set for pac-man cabinet dimensions,
and what is the easiest way to cut the two biggest side pieces of wood?

well, i've decided to get pheonix arcade. All those other multi in one game boards have games i don't even care about on there, so to reduce clutter, it's just easier to go with the SD board option.
but i don't see an order page...the faq claims there is one. how do you put an order in, and how long does the process usually take? I can test it on my current arcade machine at least.
Down the shore, we plan to convert the un used kitchen into a TV room. I want to have either a pac-man cabinet or a 4 Player turtles cabinet, full, installed in the corner and make it a media room. it'd be nice if i could add a virtual pinball in the other corner, but those are too expensive..
