I GOT ONE! THANKS EVERYONE!
I am looking for an upright Donkey Kong arcade cabinet or any other arcade cabinet that can be used for a Fix-It Felix Jr. project (e.g., Super Mario Bros., Popeye, Mario Bros., Dr. Mario, etc...)
I don't need it working, or having all the parts. I would like the wood to be in good condition so I don't have to Bondo too much, and the coin doors intact. Other than that they can be gutted.
Please let me know if you have such a cab. I'm in Orange County, California, and would gladly pick up from here or the surrounding area.
We can talk price/trade if you have one.
Thanks!
-
What are you going to do about running Fix it Felix Jr. the game in it?
-
One of three things:
1) Disney legal responds soon with good news (hopeful)
2) Wait for Disney to sell or destroy the cabs
or
3) (most likely) just run the web version :(
I should hear back from legal after Thanksgiving.
We shall see.
-
I sure hope not with the Web Version!
You can't even play that offline. The Facebook one is a little better.
(But not Great!)
Disney Legal !! Wow!
I guess you asked them for a copy? Or sale it?
Keep me posted on that one.
As i want the game pretty bad myself!
-
There's no "Wow". You don't get anything if you don't ask, so I'm asking.
I figure eventually it will get released. If they destroy all the cabs (which Disney seems to destroy many things after promotional periods), someone will get the insides before it is too late. Sometimes when they destroy certain items, you can pay for the item. Seems ridiculous since they are destroying it anyway, but they'll take money.
-
I didn't mean to offend you with the (Wow).
It was like i didn't really consider that?
I thought about more like contacting the software company that made the game.
I did find that out.
There is a higher chance of this getting out, Because more cabs are there.
They had a SPACE PARANOIDS arcade game made for TRON LEGACY promotion.
Which they put in their FLYNN's arcade. That game far as i know? Still never released.
Believe me i hope they tell you yes!
Me and many other's cannot wait to play this game in their setup's
So Thank You!
-
I contacted Mr. Vavasour, and it went as expected. His company just programmed the game. He doesn't hold any of the rights, and therefore cannot do anything regarding the game.
No offense was taken.
-
That's awesome, You are trying to get the game.
I have a empty Nintendo cab myself.
I have the Fix-it-Felix jr. artwork files.
But im not willing to start anything without the legitimate game.
If i can be of any help?
Please let me know!

Alot of people there that love the games. Just like here!
Thanks so much!
-
Thanks.
I'll let you know if I hear anything.

If all else fails I could reverse engineer the software, like I did with the Pac Man Battle Royale software (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,119032.160.html).

Just looked at your Battle Royale. LOOKS AMAZING! Great job!
A reversed engineered version would be great. You could even put in a "dip switch" to make the kill screen active or not.
I'll keep trying to get the game from Disney, but I'll keep you informed. I really appreciate the offer.
Truly terrific work Sjaak!

This thread is really exciting! I have started many about FIX-IT-FELIX Jr.
And everybody in them, Just ends up talking about the movie.
And no real solution in obtaining the game itself.
I fell in love with the game the moment i saw it!
It has all the feel and looks of the classic arcade games i grew up with.
Down to the Score Fonts.
Hopefully with this thread, The game will be obtained.
Or at least a great alternative!
-
I found this intro to the game after the quarter is inserted and 1 player is pressed.
However Felix and The Building are different in the final release of the game.

He needs to release the skinnable Banana Royale first.
-
Yeah that would be cool also!

Here is some progress.

Really love seeing all the progress. Here's to a good cabinet recreated version. I'm still waiting for a reply from Disney. I'm hoping to get a reply sometime this week (week of Nov 25th).

Surely The Software/Game will get out now! :applaud:

-
That is extremely exciting.
Is there anyone out there in Florida that can call up Billy Mitchell or Robert at 954-270-6949, so we can get the software before the auction ends in 9 days?
I can make the call, but it would most likely be better to have a hands on person go out there to arrange the software copy. I'm in California, so can't do it.
It's too bad Mameworld isn't up so we could coordinate an effort to purchase the game for MAME.
-
Bid on it, Buckethead. I'll chip in $50 to get a copy of the game.

I'd donate towards an act of piracy >:D
-
So that's $100 plegded, Buckethead.....
-
If we can get the community to bid on it, that's great. I just don't want the community to bid against itself.
I'll pitch in $100, but I need to know that someone else MAME friendly isn't already bidding on it. I don't want to raise the price for someone that will donate to MAME anyway.
-
So that's $100 plegded, Buckethead.....
I was thinking of a somewhat smaller donation but okay :bat, in for a penny in for a pound I suppose
-
I don't mind chipping in some before the auction ends. But with TRON, GALAGA, DONKEY KONG, PAC-MAN and POPEYE already in my Bedroom.
My son was born 3 years ago. Had to give up my gameroom.
I simply have no room for it!
I just want the game to run in my MAME DK machine.
I will contact the seller and ask if we can purchase the Rom/Game whatever the hell is in there privately.
Not to interfere with the sell of the cabinet.
-
I just sent this to the seller.
Now just wait and see?
Hello,
I represent a small group of people on the BYOAC forums.
That have built replica's of this cabinet already.
We are just wondering if you would consider selling the ROM/SOFTWARE?
Whatever is on the computer inside the cabinet that is the game.
Privately, As not to interfere with you getting the maximum profit for the machine.
Speaking for myself here, My Son loves this movie!
And would love to be able to play this game on my already built cabinet.
Thank you so much!
I look forward to hearing from you.
Good Day.
-
Looks good Buckethead.
I would hate to lose the opportunity (if the opportunity even exists) of getting the game at this time. But like I said, I'm afraid of bidding against someone who might donate it anyway, and it is very hard to coordinate without Mameworld.
-
Perhaps? If the seller refuses?
I can urge him to give the buyer our information and they would consider our request?
And if this machine is being sold?
There surely will be a few more?
No luck with Disney Legal on your end my friend ?
-
I didn't hear anything yet. Since I didn't hear this week I'm going to follow-up next week. We shall see.
-
So far no response from the seller.
Starting to look like he doesn't want to play ball.
I emailed him earlier today and asked him what was his price for a copy of the software?
Even offered to mail him a flash drive with return shipping.
I also asked him if he was not interested?
Could he please pass my email address on to the winner of the cabinet.
About all you can do? :dunno
Just a frustrating situation!
Any good news from anyone else ???
-
Here is the Guy's phone number
If anyone wants to go that route ?
I do not have good phone skills.
The Arcade Game Experts!
954-270-6949
We answer 7am until midnight.

I appreciate your efforts Buckethead. I contacted Disney legal again today, but just left a message - didn't get to talk to anyone.
I think the effort to get the game from the seller should be made in Florida, in person. I am willing to call tomorrow, but I'm clear on the other side of the country. Offering to ship him a flash drive is fine, but we don't know what's in the machine. There may not be a USB port or a way to easily copy. We need someone there that coordinate.
Is there someone near the store that can take the lead on this?
-
Update:
1) I talked with Disney Legal, and it will be AT LEAST another 3 weeks before I get a response - very different than my first inquiry.
2) I called the Florida store auctioning off the cabinet. Very nice gentleman. He was not the person in charge, and had limited information, but did help.
a) He said that their company is under very strict instructions not to copy the software.
b) He had opened the game up once. He believes it is a USB and a key dongle.
c) He will ask his bosses to take pictures of the inside of the cabinet to put up on e-bay.
d) He didn't believe they would release the name of the buyer.
Obviously, this is not great news. Our hope at this point is that the buyer is MAME friendly.
It is too bad we cannot get traction on funding our own bid.
Buckethead, do you know of any other attempts to get funding together for a bid?
I said I would pledge $100 before, but I'm upping that to $500. I want this game. Anyone with me?

Not at $500, sorry. I'd kick in $50 for a copy, but that's my limit.
-
So far 3 pledges:
Yotsuya - $50
Le Chuck - $50
Surgeville - $500
-
Only $1600 more to go (at this point)! >:D

Interesting? Very strict instructions not to copy the Software. (Then why is Disney selling it?) At some point it will be copied !
If i bought the cabinet? Oh yes it would be copied. Especially if i spent that much on it.
So it is a USB flash drive and the computer boots to it. Most likely a .EXE file not anything MAME like or a Rom.
The promotional SPACE PARANOIDS cabinet was a .EXE file running on a Windows Vista computer.
I saw a video on youtube of a tech working on it when it crashed.
I'm in for a $100
All i can do, Christmas is knocking on the door. Bad timing for this auction!
Honestly though i see this going for at least about $4000
And i bet anything the owner will be the guys at the 1up Arcade/Twin Galaxies in Denver.
Or a KLOV member for their collection.
Another interesting thing? The auction said ask for BILLY MITCHELL or Robert if you call ?
Is that the BILLY MITCHELL ??? He does live in Florida.
Surgeville, Thank you so much for your efforts!
Much Appreciated!

It is being talked about on KLOV.
There was supposed to be one out at the 1up in Denver for the Kong Off a couple weeks back but apparently they pulled it from the floor cause someone tried to "hack/copy" it and screwed it all up. Would barely boot. Has some kind of serious encryption on it to prevent just such a thing.

the cabinet is sold and will likley be taken off ebay. i live near there and was going to go buy and see it. too bad. i wanted to see one of the 12 originals. anyone know if there is one in the orlando disney arcade?
-
Wow! must have caused a stir !
If i was the high bidder i would be pissed.
Unless of course? He was the buyer.
Now that one has been sold. (Which i thought would never happen!) I'm convinced one day.
This game is gonna get out.
If they were smart they would just release it and let people buy it.
There is a market.
-
I did some digging and here is a couple of pictures of the inside of the cabinet.
-
Thanks for the pictures.
I'm hopeful as well that we will eventually get this game.
-
the cabinet is sold and will likley be taken off ebay.
Well it's still up. And the bidding is going up also.
-
Upon further research, It does belong to The (BILLY MITCHELL)
-
over 10K now, crazy!
-
The idea of us trying to raise money to buy this.
Seems laughable now.
2nd Mortgage on our houses maybe?
-
Another one out there and SOLD!
