I just wrote a long message that I thought others would be interested in..
Then I get a message 'the message is too long... shorten it and resubmit'
WELL !@#!@# CRAP!
I lost it ALL! I would have broken it up sure.... but now I don't have any of it..
that SUCKS...
Nothing like wasting 15 minutes on a single item... just to loose it!
Is there ANY way to remove the limit (1)
or making it that you can go back and still have what you typed there (2)
I don't know if I have the time or the energy to redo everything I just did over again.
The last discussion like the one I had went on for a few weeks and had a lot of fun dialog in it..
I've had this happen before.... a few times.... (or something else similar that caused me to loose everything I was writing)
And each time I just said...!@# it... someone else can reply to them..

Whether or not a form is remembered is a function of your browser near as I know, not the message forum. I tested it by typing this, then going to another site, then hit "Back" and it was still here.
Sorry about your message, that would bite. The limit was set to 5500 characters per post. I have increased it to 25,000 characters per post. Don't think anything will break, we'll see :)
Sorry again about your message, very frustrating I know.

I fine I usually can go back (Netscape 7.1) without losing the test, except sometimes when someone else submits something between when I first loaded the reply page and when I press the back key. This doesn't always happen if another posts, but more often than not the reason someone else was able to post was because I wrote a long post, like you did Lilwolf, so...
I'm glad the post limit was increased. Thanks saint! :)

As someone else who has been known to submit multi-pagers, I also appreciate the increase.
My browser usually complains about re-submitting information or something like that when I go back, but it usually works. I stress usually.
But I have been bitten by this one in the past as well. Since that time, I tend to cut and paste my work into notepad at regular intervals just in case :)
Hmm...never thought to ask for the limit to be increased.....what a concept :)

I hate it when I attach a picture and click "Post" to then find out the picture file name already exists on the server so my "Post" did not work. No biggies until I realized I lost my whole big explanation.
I know have the habit of cut and pasting all text before I click on "Post" just in case..... ;)

It's definitely a function of the browser. I remember about a year ago or so I was listing stuff pretty frequently on Ebay and whenever I finished typing up all my descriptions and setting up shipping and so on, I'd click submit only to have it tell me that I'd forgotten to check some radio button or something. I'd click the back button only to find my form COMPLETELY blank. I was getting pissed, but then found a link explaining how to change IE so it would remember that stuff. I can't for the life of me remember how it was done. I just searched all over in the options and can't find it, yet I know it is a setting somewhere.
