Hello,
Normally I wouldn't post a 'help' me thread a s a first post but I cannot figure out whats going on with my setup. I had my aimtrak guns working for about a year now but last night I fired it up for the first time in a few months and all my gun settings were pretty much wiped out. I haven't removed and devices or changed USB locations of any devices So I have no idea why they would of changed all of a sudden.
Anyways I have been trying to re calibrate the guns in mame and I'm running into a few issues. 1) When I try to calibrate the guns directions (X and Y) it doesn't register. The only way I can get the direction i move the gun to stick is to pull the trigger afterward. So basically I have to move the gun left and right then click the trigger to get 'Gun 1 X' to show up. I used to just slowly move then gun left and right and the control would auto fill in.
2) Even with the weird issues above the guns still work, however the cross hair is no longer tracking on the screen. The cross hair only shows up when I pull the trigger which makes aiming a bit on the difficult side. Not sure why this is happening all of a sudden.
3) Lastly, for some reason ( maybe related) my trackballs buttons are also showing up as Gun buttons. For instance when I try to map one of my mouse buttons to fire ( for millepede) it shows up as 'Mouse B2 Gun B0". Anyone ever come across this issue before?

Well, not sure what I did but everything appears to be working fine now. I did so much that its hard to say what actually fixed my issues but I will list them below. Hopefully they can help people in the future:
- In the aimtrak configuration utility, reprogram the guns to different IDs ( conflict with my mouse, maybe this fixed the double button press showing up in config menu).
- Unplug both guns and plug one in, recalibrate it in aimtrak. Repeat for the second gun.
- In the mame directory clear the cfg, nvram, and dif folders
- Remap the guns in the mame config menu (TAB).
- Some games require you to do additional setup and calibration within the games service menu (F2)
- If you are having trouble mapping the aimtrak's side buttons, joystick must be set to 1 under core input options.
