Title: Price went up on LS-30'S again !
Post by: spidermonkey on October 25, 2003, 12:49:19 am
Video Connect now jacked up the price to $40.00 per stick plus shipping. ::). I bit the bullet and ordered a pair anyway since I love just about every game they and other brand rotarys were ever used on. One thing I forgot to ask when I called is if they come with their wiring harnesses or do I have to make my own or find the harnesses on Ebay? Has anybody bought LS-30's from Video Connection and if so did they come with the wiring ? I think M3talslug bought his from them for his fighter cp that he made but theres nothing on his site about wether they came with the wires with the pinout connectors on them. Obviously I'm hooking them up to Druins interface so I really don't want to solder the wires to the interface so the harness is pretty much a must have. I hope someone can tell me if they do ship them with harnesses. I would have called back but I just thought about it a few minutes ago. If worst comes to worst I'll have to wait till Monday to call them. :-\  Anybody who's thinking of getting these should probably not wait too long since they haven't been made in years and they may be running low on them. If I call Monday I'll ask them how many they have left too. I don't know if I'll get the truth out of them as they'll probably tell me they're almost out just so it'll cause a buying frenzy but maybe I'll be able to get a straight answer outta them.

Mine came with wiring, and that was way back when they cost $15/each.

I got a pair of these back in May/June when they were $30 each.  They said they had just one case left...I nearly bought 10 to sell on eBay, but I thought better of it.  :)

They do come with harnesses, BTW.

Yup, same here.

Sounds like either the demand is picking up a lot, or their stock is dropping to low levels, or both.

The funny thing is that these have been going pretty cheap on eBay, almost like the demand is dropping off for them.

Of course these are used, but I picked up a pair with a working jamma board for $35, and then I picked up another spare (working) for $9.99 on a different auction where I was the only bidder.  Then I got two more on my Guerrilla War that I paid $20 for the entire cab (all controls included).  I guess this is why people part these things out.

When I bought 2 a year or so ago, it not only came with the wiring (2 sets.. I only used one cut in 1/2) but also the key to open it free.  This is a $5 item that will probably save you a lot of time.

Without it, I don't know if I ever would have been able to get the tops off..

yeah get the special plastic key thing.  Definitely needed.  And the wires came with mine...that was....oh man...almost 3 years ago.  Heh they said they were low on them back then :)  Tho I can't imagine paying 40/stick now.

Videoconnect is on the up and up.  Real nice lady - I've ordered a few different things from them over the years and they've always been cool.

I bought two from Video Connect about a year ago.  They came with the wiring harnesses and hooked up to the Druin interface without having to buy any extra wiring.

If you understand how the knobs come off or have seen the key you should be able to figure out how to get the caps off without the key but the key is worth $5 for how easy it makes it.

Thanks for putting my mind at ease everyone. Making my own harnesses wouldn't have been on my top ten list of fun things to do. Yeh, I guess they'll always tell you they only have a few left. Business is business I guess. And yes, the lady that took my order is really friendly. She did say that she would throw in the knob removal tool no charge although for $80.00 + shipping I think I did probably pay for it :o. Oh well, I'm just happy I got myself a brand new pair before they go the way of the Wico leaf sticks and become a part of arcade history.  :'( ;D

You'll be satisfied.. their sticks are NOS, whereas the ones on eBay are usually very used (at least mechanically, if not physically).
