Title: Ipac wierdness

I am a new poster here, have been a reader for quite awhile though. My cab is almost done after about 6 months on and off work and I ran into a strange problem with my ipac this week. Just wondering if anyone has any ideas.

I am using an ipac/2 on my control panel and could not get my shift keys to work, everything else seemed to work fine.
After reading through the documentation and checking the resources from this site the problem obviously pointed to a stuck key or bad switch. I ran the ipac in test mode and it showed that P1 up and down were shorted. I switched out the switches; same problem. Rewired everything to make sure it was not a ground problem; again, same problem.

All games seem to work fine but the shift functions still are not working and winipac key presses registers fine. Is there something I am missing here. Any help is appreciated.

I had the same problem and it ended up being the T-Stick i was using.
The NO and NC are backwards on that model.

Once that was fixed, I couldn't get it out of test mode.

Open notepad and see if you are still in test mode by clicking some of the buttons.
If you still get the debug output, you may have to disconnect then reconnect the cord from the ipac to the comp.

Good idea, I did check that though. same problem on 4 diffferent microswitches. Still the same prob, I thought maybe the contacts on the ipac were causing the problem because the end was sttripped a little long and the wire had frayed a little. I redid those also.

Is your keyboard also connected?  If so, try disconnecting it and then testing it out.  Could be the keyboard.

As a last resort you can disconnect the wires for those buttons from the IPAC, and see if they are still shorted.  A little thread of copper fiber may have fallen down onto the board during some wire stripping.

Much thanks for the suggestions. It appears that it was the keyboard. I think the up/down buttons were sticking. Shift functions are working properly!  :D
