I know there have been posts on how to run mamewah as shell but I have searched for them and have been unable to find them.
I was wondering if someone would be so kind to posts the instructions for running mamewah as shell in win98 and win2k. Thanks

Hi,
You just want to modify your system.ini file to look like this:
Just change "Explorer.exe" to "mamewah.exe" Let me know of you have any questions?
Steve
Oh yeah this is my setup for Win98
[boot]
oemfonts.fon=vgaoem.fon
system.drv=system.drv
drivers=mmsystem.dll power.drv
shell=c:\progra~1\mamewah\mamewah.exe As default , this shows as "Shell=Explorer.exe"
user.exe=user.exe
gdi.exe=gdi.exe
sound.drv=mmsound.drv
dibeng.drv=dibeng.dll
comm.drv=comm.drv
keyboard.drv=keyboard.drv
*DisplayFallback=0
fonts.fon=vgasys.fon
fixedfon.fon=vgafix.fon
386Grabber=vgafull.3gr
display.drv=pnpdrvr.drv
mouse.drv=lmouse.drv

I got it to work, thanks for your help. Now I was wondering how you go about switching it back to explorer.exe as shell?
Also, could anyone tell me how to set up mamewah as shell in win2k, thx.

Here's a link to a message I wrote explaing how I have my systems configured, it mentions stuff about changing your shell back and forth between Explorer and Mamewah via a dos start up screen. You should also be able to download my config file. Just remember to make a back up of your system.ini file before using my config. If you have any questions feel free to ask.

Creatine thanks for your help. I think I got it working like I want for the most part. There is just one more thing. When running mamewah as shell I want another program to start when the computer starts. The program is ppjoykey. I tried to edit the autoexec.bat file to start the program but it says that it can't be started in dos mode when I do that. Judging by the comprehensive boot files you have created I was hoping you could help me out with this one.

I wonder if you add it to your start up menu within windows if that might work? I'll mess around with my system and see if I can figure it out.

I tried that but it didn't seem to work?

In theory I don't see how that would work. Your running mamewah as the shell so programs inside the startup menu arent' going to start. It seems like there should be a way to start it with the registry but I'm not sure how.
