Title: Zinc to Mame default controls?
Post by: Fuzzguitar on October 22, 2003, 08:04:04 am
Just got Zinc up and running using the command prompt and I need to know how to change the default controls to match mame so i can use it in my cab via MameWah.

I configured the graphics options by opening the renderer.cfg with notepad and making the necessary changes but that technique did not work with the controls.

I realise there is a "how to" write a controller plug in but it is too advanced for me atm - surely there must be a simpler way?

I know my girlfriend will want to play tetris and I wanna play rival schools!

Thanks in advance (again)
The Fuzz.

The easiest way is to use a specific ZiNc frontend to configure it, then use MAMEWAH (or other FE) once configured...

I used Aldo's ZiNc FE, it worked very well, try a search for it :)

Hey thanks,

That is exactly what I was going to do - I even d/l daFreaks GUI. I sort of wanted to work it out the real way... since teaching myself about the command prompt I guess I was feeling confident. But now I'm just going to go with what you mentioned.

Thanks again Minwah!

On a related note, we may not have to do this for very much longer.  I saw MAME WIP reporting Tekken & Tekken 2 are now working!!

i'm also trying to get zinc working with mamewah.  do you select the frontend's exe inside of mamewah?  because using zinc.exe hasn't been working for me.

You need to use Howards commandline wrapper - www.oscarcontrols.com/lazarus.

This is because zinc launches using numbers, not romnames.
