I have a touch screen monitor that I got free from work. It used to be a gift registry.

ok i saw your site and i must admit i would of liked to keep the old look (but made the plastic red) and had speakers where it looks like speakers on the tp and made a marquee for it.

But it looks good now id just dress it up more  :D

That thing was huge! it wouldn't fit through a door. I kind of like the plain look of it now. Its the perfect height for setting drinks on top of when your playing the arcade game next to it.

Hey eightbit, you wouldn't happen to know if there are any more of those available do you.  I also live in MI and infact worked for OE Systems a few years ago and watched those being setup to go out to the Meijer stores back about 1998/99.  I have often wondered how easy it would be to convert one tho a jukebox.  It looks good I must say.

I stripped the whole registry and removed the internal frame that holds the monitor up. Then I wrapped that with boards from the big registry and slapped the front back on, after painting it, and wa-lah I had a jukebox cabinet.

Where in Michigan are you? I'm involved with assett disposition for Meijer and we have pulled some of those registrys out. Thats how I got a hold of 3 of them. We used to have 2 in every store and I think they are going to one now.

They have a small slim lcd touch panel version in some stores now. I would love to get my hands on one of those!

Wow... amazed to see how many emulation gurus in michigan.

I grew up in Ann Arbor and now live a Cinci but come up often.  I have to update the byoac finders.

As for touch monitors.  Are you going to have any for sale?  I would love to get one for the kids!

You might be right, its a little plain. I tried to brighten it up with the red front. What kind of art goes on the side of a jukebox?

I was thinking the name jukebox with actually notes around it u know the small ball with a stick comming out from it  ;D

It might sound a bit silly but it all depends if you can amke it suit the jukebox style  8)

I've been dicking around with a few touch screens and haven't had much luck.  This is because instead of buying a quality touchscreen I've tried to get a cheapie off of ebay and make it work (I'm sure we have all been there).

Now I've spent as much asa buying a lightly used, quality touchscreen and still have nothing to show for it.

Live and learn, right?

I would recommend Elo Touch.. I have used them before and they are not that expensive and work pretty.  I found nice panel mount 17" one on Ebay for like $295.. used a serial cable driver but works good.

You could always try watch www.tigerdirect.com for Viewsonic AirPanels.. (Wireless remote desktops)  sometimes I have seen them sell as cheap as $400.

I'm looking for a touchscreen beta tester for DOSCab and WinCab Jukebox, so if anyone here is starting a touchscreen project and wouldn't mind loading it up for a day or two, please let me know...

I'll second the Elo. I got a 17" Elo USB touchscreen off of Ebay and it's probably the coolest toy I've bought yet. It's a big horizontal-mount monitor, but it fits the case I put it in well. Such monitors can be gotten for pretty darn cheap, though.
