I recently upgraded my system and was wondering if MAME .147 would run nicely.
I have an ASUS M2A-VM motherboard, AMD 64 dual core processor, 4gb ram, a Samsung 830 series SSD, and Win XP pro. Before the upgrade, I was running MAME .127u8 nicely with 2gb ram and a seagate HDD, and Win XP home (same board and processor). I figured that it makes sense to update from my 127 set since that is already 4 years old. What do you think?

AMD 64 dual core processor
Depends on what speed the processor is and what games you want to play.
The big jump in spec demands was between v.106 and v.107
Most likely everything that ran in v.127 will run about the same.
Since you haven't upgraded your processor, you really haven't upgraded your system as far as MAME is concerned unless you've moved to XP64.
The extra processes running in XP Pro might actually slow you down a little bit if you don't disable them.

Thanks for the info. What are the extra processes in XP pro, and how could I disable them?

From XP to XP pro, it's mostly the networking and remote desktop stuff.
Probably doesn't make a huge difference, but I disable anything not used for emulation.
A lot of people keep the remote desktop stuff so they can do maintenance on their cab pc from another pc.
