Reg,

Mate out of curiousity.... what are your plans???

The reason I have to ask is that I have been thinking of doing something very similar to what you have done, or are starting to do?

I'd be very interested in hearing about what you are trying to implement exactly... love to hear the details!

Nice work mate!

Hi,

Mainly Visual Pinball have the capability to emulate fairly recreated pinballs (I like the ones made in the 50's and the 60's).

My Arcade Cabinet is Very Heavy, so I cannot bump my regular
Arcade Controller and the controller is also very wide, so I was not feeling very confortable to play pinball.

A friend have offered to me his old Last Action hero pinball box (he was planning to throw it away).  For now, I have hacked a keyboard and connected the side buttons, coins meshes, the tilt pendulum switch and the Start button.  I have to figure a way to detect the side/front  bumping.

Pinball made in the 50's assumethat you bump them to place your balls (Bingo one) so the bumping is very important for thoses.

My plan is to try the pendulum switch and also a steel ball on a small rail to detect those bumping.  Also this 1/2 pinball controller is much lighter than my cabinet, the width and the height is perfect for my taste.

I'm planning to keep the side arts.

I will take much pictures very soon!

Title: idea of the magnitude of the work done!
Post by: Reg on October 20, 2003, 02:39:12 pm
Hi,

here is an idea of the magnitude of the work done.

The legs were rusty...sanded them by hand... put a coat of grey
primer...then apply a coat of Chrome paint.

Then Cut in half the pinball box.

and recut it sit nicely on my arcade cabinet...

Forced to stop for 3 days because I have received a small chip of
wood in the left eye..was in pain for 3 days!

Now, the pain / trouble vision is gone and vision returned back to normal.

Hacked a keyboard and make the matrix to a piece of paper.

connect the side buttons, tilt switch, coins mesches, start button,
put 12v to lights on coins door, start button.

Close the back of the pinball so now it's a closed controller.

Need to find a way to detect the side/front bumping!

Need to install an old playfield bare no mechanical components on it.

Need to install ball plunger and rollover switch.

bye
