I think I'll buy this thing and MAME it...
Last Starfighter (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3355034222&category=790&sspagename=rvi:1:1)

Okay so the pictures shows there being an actual game being played on the monitor. Surely there aren'y actual Starfighter PCB's that are included are there? I couldn't tell from the auction.

More info about the cabinet here (http://www.bannister.org/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=26;t=002211)

It's just a prop...the guy does say something about a "special gift" to make it more authentic. Probably a tape or DVD with screenshots looped from the movie.
-
Maybe the "special gift" is Lance Guest (Alex Rogan). In the eBay picture he looks madly insane, reminds me of Capt. Nemo or Dr. Reinhardt from Disney's The Black Hole.
-
Note that this is NOT the cabinet from the movie! Read the description carefully... it's a replica.

i wonder if the guy who won the auction for $3,500 relized that it is not the real one. talk about buyers remorse.

Holy cow, that's Lance Guest in that picture?? Poor bastard.

I only skimmed through that auction, and it was readily apparent to me that this was not the same cabinet that was in the movie.
Hmph. Would've been a cool conversation piece to own.

I'll bet it was the one they used in the BG for the interviews on the DVD release.
BTW, I work with Jon Betuel (the guy who wrote Starfighter), and he couldn't believe it when I told him what people were paying for a non-working fake arcade game... Then he told me about the Battlezone he bought a while back, which he had to let go because the joysticks didn't work and replacements aren't made any more. When I told him I could have replaced them for him with newer joysticks, while keeping the original grips, he was like "Doh!" :) We actually had a nice little nostalgic conversation about classic arcade games 'n stuff...

I played the game on my computer for so many hours I'd lose count. Awesome game...destroying the armada and such. It was on my 800XL though I never had a 5200 (sadly).
Seems a little excessive for 3,500$$$ :o but hey some people have money to burn.
