Hi guys. First question is, do many games in MAME require more than one coin slot for two players? In my limited rom collection, I have only found 2 games (TMNT and Simpsons), but these have 2 player variants that allow for one coin slot anyway.
The reason I ask is, that I may be limited to only one coin slot. (the only place i've been able to find a top slot door for my coin door is at Zaks amusements in melbourne) and I want to make sure i'm making the right option.
Secondly, another coin door popped up on ebay recently (this isn't mine) that Retroborg kindly sent me.

is that a slot at the top? I can't really make out the picture, but I assume it's a regular coin door. Is there any thing else I should know before bidding on it?
Finally, i'm on the lookout for some mechs. I'll most likely buy some new ones, but this guy has some old ones for sale too. They're the kind with the different coin facia that someone refered to as "Nintendo" style mechs. As far as I know these won't fit normal doors will they?

Ah, memories! Bought my first set of joysticks (crapola Happ Ultimates) and second hand buttons from Zaks!! The guy's name I dealt with was Shannon IIRC and he was pretty helpful. He'd be able to sort you out with any queries

Don't know if they'll fit a "normal" coin door. But they're supposed to just bolt into your cab as is. I've got a couple of cheapies that I picked up from ebay for < $AUD 5. They're hell'n easy to mount: cut a hole roughly to shape, bolt them in, wire'em up. Being in oz, almost all the cabs I remember playing on as a kid has these mechs, so it seems pretty authentic to me!!
Cheers

I'm pretty sure Gauntlet and maybe a few other games used the coin slot to determine which player got credits. Not sure if this helps - but . . . If it's just a physical space concern, you could add a button on the panel for coin 2 if needed. Wire the button to "6" Modify the games that don't need a separate Coin slot so Coin 1 and Coin2 is "5" This keeps them credit only. Then the remaining games that need a slot can use the coin slot for Player 1 and the button for Player 2.
If it's an encoder inputs issue, you could do this: http://www.fraggersxtreme.com/arcadepanels/encoder/startkey.htm This preserves the coin inputs, but gets rid of extra inputs for the start keys.
