Title: Finished my cab at last!!!!!
Post by: Ghoward on October 16, 2003, 07:23:46 pm
Well I've finished it at last some 5 months after starting it! I think the 2 months play testing slowed things down.

My cab is make from Birch Plywood with a WG9200 monitor, XP2200 MHz and a 6 channel sound system built in. It also futures a built in remote control for the sound system with the remote sensor mounted in the bezel.

Cost for this cab were around $2500.

Nice. Say good bye to the social life for a while. How many sick days can you take from work before they get suspicious?   ;D

I wish there was a less ugly trackball mounting plate. The things really stick out like a sore thumb. Especially on a cab as ice as this one.

$2500 is a lot of quaters   :o

GHoward, Nice Cab!

Bomber,  If you don't like the mounting plate, don't use it!

I quite like the trackball plate myself, but maybe on the next one I might try to do it without the mounting plate.

Also I want to thank everyone who answered my questions along the way; I think I would have had a really hard time on something

I believe home depot or menard's has birch veneer that you could glue right over top of that plate--it would blend it a little better but the different grain would still enhance it--beatifully done cabinet by the way!

I'm not sure that would good right myself. One thing I have done since thinking about mounting my next trackball without a plate showing was to try removing the mounting plate in Photoshop to see what it would look like.

What I found was the 2 1/4 trackball looks lost on the panel. If I made the ball bigger up to the 4 1/2 Trackball it looked ok however the trackball itself would be too big for the panel.

So on my next cab I think I'm going to do the same as on this one.
