Hi everyone,
I recently built an arcade controller for my PS2 using Happ parts. Unfortunately, my Competition stick makes an odd click at the far end of it's travel, after it's activted the microswitch. I have another Competition stick which also does the same thing.
I took it apart and there's nothing wrong with the internals. I have worked out that it's something to do with the spring being under pressure as it doesn't do it if the e-clip is off.
How do I fix this annoying problem or will it fix itself as it wears in?
Any help is much appreciated.
John.

Hmm, are you puting it together corrently? If the actuator is upside down, or you don't have the plastic spacer, the actuator might be jumping off the switches.

Check where parts 95-0194-00 ("spacer") & 95-0197-00 ("actuator") go in the picture.

It's been put together properly. It seems like the spring is shifting slightly when I move the stick.
I must stress that this happens on both of my sticks. It doesn't happen when the e-clip is off, only when the actuator is slightly depressed by the e-clip.
One solution would be to slightly sand down the spacer so that the spring isn't under so much pressure. I don't want to do this if the spring will wear in however......
Has anyone else experienced this problem.

I had this problem a long while back, and the problem was something with putting the spacer in the wrong place or upside down or something. (But I think upside down only happens with supers.) Also, I hacked my Competition so I can't test it for you any more. Hopefully slicer_d or someone else can help more.

How do you hack your comp? What does it do for it?
EDIT:
Never mind I think I figured it out its for using flight sticks and stuff I think.

Just got my brand new stick and no double clicking I think I'm going to take it apart and take a look inside.
EDIT
Well the only thing that could be doing it that I see is the spring. Did you try flipping the spring over that might do something. What I think must be happening is that the spring is too big and slips around and makes a click sound. Maybe if you bend the end in a little it would help but I dont really know Sorry a I cant help any more.

I've got at least one Galaga / Ms. PacMan Anniversay stick that does that. There is a small lip of plastic around the actuator that catches on the microswitch that makes a click sound. I've thought about trimming the plastic or just leaving it as is and letting it wear naturally. I've noticed a similar thing on one of my Competitions. Also had some issues with one stick but found it was caused by a wire I didn't fasten away from the stick. It had gotten down into the joystick mechanism and was getting pinched causing the joystick to act funny.
