Title: arcade vga.. FIT MY SCREEN!!!!! plz :(
Post by: delta88 on October 15, 2003, 01:21:41 am
well onward with getting decent results from my arcade vga card. I would love to figure out how to get the picture at the bottom of the monitor to show the portion with the start bar...I believe I have a wg monitor but it does not have a H-size adj knob.and in the pc settings this cannot be done either. as far as desktop size goes?  any help? like adding a resistor somewhere to keep it from over shooting the edge of the tube?
thx

I had one chassis with no vertical or horizontal adjustments--had to be done with trimmer pots on the board itself--not as easy and very sensitive but hopefuly you have some--just use a plastic screwdriver in case you slip off and hit something as you are turning.

trimmer pots. not like the ones in the top picture? or are you talking self installed? and one other thing. the arecade vga is defaulting to 800x600 at 32 bits. isnt it sappose to be 600x400 at 16? cause when i try to lower it the screen just goes wack.

The ArcadeVGA should default to 640 X 480. If you select this resolution using the "Galaga" quickres icon on the taskbar, and the screen goes as in the picture, then you need to adjust the horizontal hold control. There should be a setting which locks at all resolutions, ditto the vertical hold. Some arcade monitors can't display 800 X 600 because that's 300 lines (interlaced) which is pushing the timing to the limits as these monitors were really designed to display about 240 lines, (ie 480 interlaced).

well yeah those are trim pots too--these ones look like a disk standing on its edge with one side having a small dent to put a screwdriver into--something like this:

I suggest you go to Wells-gardner.com and get the manual for your monitor.

My WG7000 series monitor has horizontal size control, but it's not a pot.. but rather a special thing that needs to be adjusted (width coil).  Here's more info about it:

As far as vertical size, again, there are 2 things that control that.. the V-Size pot and 50-60Hz sensitivity pot.  Turning this pot will allow you to set how big the V-Size can go.

Hope this helps!
