Title: different ROM sizes

How come I can find 3 different zaxxon.zip with 3 different sizes, yet they all validate properly with mame -verifyroms?
How do I decide which one to use?

Maybe they're all compressed with different compression levels. If the extracted files are all the same size and have the same checksums then they're all the same. Use whatever set you like...

Duh! sorry I didn't think about extracting the files to compare them! some have txt files in the zip and others don't and one of the zaxxon.zip is actually the samples file!
