After some spotting issues with the wells g 9200 i decided to hold off for a bit. Anyone buy one recently? Think it's safe to do so?

There's always risk associated with shipping a monitor, IMO. And the issues that have sprung up lately of the D9200's failing after only a few weeks of use are very likely still a small percentage considering how many W-G sells.
Obviously W-G is aware of this problem, and everyone so far has reported nothing short of stellar response from their customer service in having the problem corrected. If I was in the market for a D9200 right now, I wouldn't hesitate ordering one from them. However, I would be leary of ordering from a distributor, eBay, or otherwise on this particular model given the recent posts.

I just bought a 27" D9200 around a month ago, and had a shipping issue with it (when ordering make sure to ask that they ship it by freight, NOT fedex). They were 100% helpful in fixing the monitor fedex aparantly broke, cross shipping me a replacement (this time by freight) and getting fedex to pick the broken one up w/ no shipping cost to me. This was some of the best customer service I have ever seen.
As for the D9200 I have now, it works completely flawlessly and has so for several weeks. I was manufactured around July 1rst of this year if that helps or means anything.
Like you I was a bit worried about getting a D9200 after I had read about several failures on the web, but after talking with several people I decided that wasn't the norm and many units that shipped worked flawlessly.
Again, like I said the customer service I received from WG was second to none, hopefully you wont have to ship a monitor back though. As I noted earlier, make sure you get them to ship by freight, the guy at WG who handled getting me a new one shipped said to make sure and tell them that the next time I ordered he apparantly has seen fedex bust quite a few, and they won't even ship by ups anymore because they have an even worse track record.

I bought mine a few weeks ago. It was manufactured June, 2003. Haven't had a single problem with it yet. Awesome monitor.

I bought a D9200 this spring. The original chassis lasted about a week before it developed the dim gray/green screen problem. The replacement chassis lasted a month before it developed the dim gray/green screen problem. The third chassis arrived DOA. The forth chassis arrived with a red tint problem which was very evident on black or white screens.
I recieved a new replacement D9200 from WG In late August. Up to this point I have had no problems with it. WG customer service was easy to deal with.
