Title: Help with restoring
Post by: NiN^_^NiN on October 13, 2003, 09:27:48 am
I finally have a few free days and i'd like to start restoring my taito speedrace cabinet.

What i'd like to know is if any1 has sites about the general rule of restoring cabinets?

Also my metal coin door has a huge dint in it like some1 kicked it.

How would I got about fixing this? should i try panel beating it? getting new metal bent into the same shape? screw a new metal face plate onto the old coin door?

Also what about lights? if the lights are gone like the marquee light and you can't find bulbs that fit in it replacing it with a new bulb and unit ok?

thaks for your help :) i'm very tired so some of this might sound wierd  ::)

I just recently used some auto fiberglass body filler to patch some holes in the metal on my old cab. Once I sanded it out, primed it, and repainted it, you'd never notice the difference.

Maybe you could fill it in and smooth it out?

Just a thought.  ;D

Hmm i'll have to have a look at that altho i dont have a hole in my metal :P

But are there sites that give you the basics of restoring?

I have a pretty good idea on how to restore it i just dont wanna replace a part with a recent part that would basiclly wreck the restoring.

But any websites or even pics of restored cabs would be cool :)

Can't help too much with the rest of the cab, but I've got a tutorial for restoring coin doors on my site.

As for the dent...hm...can I see a picture of the coin door to get an idea what you're talking about?
