This is what I'm doing during Hurricane Sandy (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-5DlVvchzew#)
Enjoying the moment.
-
The storm was supposed to track right over my house. Like, directly over it. So far though all we've had is maybe 45mph winds and moderate rain. That might change overnight but it looks like it could just continue this way. Last year this week we hadn't had power in days. This year we might not even lose it.
-
I'm sitting around with a flashlight in hand hoping that it gets warm enough for trick or treat tomorrow. Our power flickered off once tonight but that was hours ago, so I think we are good.
-
meh..its just windy outside thats it. I am pretty safe here. with power, internetz, drank
-
Yep, it seems to have swung inland south of us, gone north to the west of us, and swung east to the north of us. I am in a ~75 mile area of MA and southern NH that was mostly missed. :)

This is really cool.

Well, I got crushed. My town is still without power with no ETA on when it is coming back on. The closest cell tower got knocked out so no cell service either. No electricity means no heat too. My office has been closed all week and I can't get to NYC anyway. This blows.

Sorry to hear that; same boat. My location (Long Beach, NY) was fairly ravaged. We were lucky, all we lost was our cars (went almost completely underwater) since we're on the second floor but we have friends who lost everything - all from just the water surge. And yeah, no way to get into NYC - though my job is without power anyhow (no matter, was my last week.)
We're all staying at my mother's in Queens but we are fairly certain we're going to be here indefinitely. With all the problems and the flooding, it's fairly certain that apartment is done.
I feel fortunate for all we still have, but I know for a lot of my friends, it's going to be a long struggle. Hopefully things will be back to normal before too long. Hang in there.

Ugh. That blows. We are also lucky in that my parents have power and we have been staying with them. They are still saying 7-10 days for power and it is getting frustrating.... Schools still have no power and neither does my office. They got the mall across the street up and running though.

Last year in October we got a 12" snowstorm that killed our power for a week. That's all it took. 12" of wet snow before the leaves had fallen and trees were on the ground everywhere.
-
Maybe it's roaming bands of junkies huffing fumes.
-
Media's already running the roaming bands of psychos are siphoning gas stories. I'd love to see someone siphon gas out of a modern car.
Saw a post on Facebook in our hurricane information group (see, social media is good for something) about some guy who found a 10 dollar bill on his windshield with a note saying "sorry, had to siphon some of your gas." There's crazy lines at these gas stations. It's nuts. I stood on line for two hours yesterday to fill up a 2 gallon canister.
Funny thing is that I'd let anyone sipon and use my gas if they could. Not like I can use it anymore.

Heh I think WV got it this year. We had about a foot of snow in our area when all was said and done, more in the mountain areas. Our power went down tuesday morning and we just got it back last night. It could have been worse but damn... halloween was a bust, especially for all the nneighborhood kids. Yeah trick-or-treating in the dark with no power... that's always a good idea. I think we got 2 or 3 families brave enough to try it. We generally have 50 kids or more so I have a butt-load of candy I have to get rid of. Portions of the state won't get power until Sunday or later. Oh and I got sick maning the generator, this is the first time I've been upright in 24 hours..... so good times!
-
Wow, after posting my msg, 15 minutes later the power went out......... :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:
The electricity came back on a day after (exactly 9pm Tuesday) but, Internet was down. It just came back on NOW (Friday 7:30pm).
Did alot of yard cleaning, i created 3 mountain high GARBAGE on the curb and DPW hasn't come around to clean it.
Gas station are a Mad House and traffic still....
Hope everyone made it ok and the MAME CABs are safe ;D
Back to GAMING.......

Don't believe everything you read, dude.
I'll believe this one. People are desperate for gas for their generators.
And don't call me dude. ;D

Over by me things are getting back to normal. Got power back on Thursday (internet also). Glad to be home. Thankful that the house had no damage or water in the basement like last year. My pool wasn't so lucky, stupid tree busted the liner too  Buses are running into the city so I can get to work :banghead:
Hope everyone gets power back soon.

Just got power, no heat/hot water yet, but came home anyways from the in-laws.
They won't let anyone in yet to see the damage but the garage my car is in got flooded to the ceiling at some points I heard. And this was the garage they told everyone to move to since it's never flooded. The clowns(new mgmt) apparently didn't try to sandbag it until they saw the flood coming down the street.
-
West coast. ;)
My sympathies to all those who have had to endure Sandy, and my prayers that life will soon return to normal!
-
Power is back! Hooray!
-
power didn't even go out :burgerking:
-
Snake, you live in NY, they said NY was going down.....
Guess you got lucky. You must have some connection in your area.
-
I live in middle of coney island ave and ocean parkway. both highways with huge trees and buildings protecting my a$s :burgerking:
yeah I think I was in the safe zone. my work place got hit pretty bad tho. trees all over the place and sidewalks came off and stuff. never seen anything like this before. how did sidewalks even come off.
