Title: Having some JPAC input issues
Post by: TGov on October 25, 2012, 09:53:53 pm
A few days ago I picked up a Dynamo cabinet that had been wired for JAMMA and had a 39 in 1 JAMMA board in it.

The board worked great and all of the buttons worked fine. Today I decided to put my MAME PC in the cab using a JPAC from Ultimarc. The display works great and I have windows/mame/hyperspin all running fine. I have the JPAC hooked up to the PC via a PS/2 cable. It is obviously powering the JPAC just fine as it is working, but I am not getting any 'key' inputs from my control panel.

I do not have a PS/2 keyboard handy to hook up to the JPAC to see if I am getting any pass through to the PS/2 port on the PC so I can't test that. If I am right I should be getting some key presses by moving the joystick and pushing buttons on the CP. I even opened up Notepad to test this as they suggest on the Ultimarc website, but no luck.

If I use a USB keyboard it works fine. The double ended PS/2 cable that I have is technically a mouse cable, but I assumed they were the same as a Keyboard one as they have the same pins. It is the one I got with my Opti-Wiz for my trackball. Double ended PS/2 cables are not very common.

Anybody have any experience with this device and had any issues?

I will try to get ahold of a proper PS/2 keyboard tomorrow at work and see if I can test it that way.

Ok, got some help over on KLOV and it looks like the problem was a bad ground.  Fix now and working! :)
