Title: Calibrating Aimtraks... interface for Frontends?
Post by: Endprodukt on October 17, 2012, 05:26:21 pm
I'd love a nice and clean interface for Frontends for my Aimtraks. Something I can add to my Lightgun-Gameslist. A simple .exe that I can get into Mala/Hyperspin/Whatever FE. You start it from your frontend. It's just a white screen. You can select the gun with the stick or it's going through all connected guns one by one with a target instead of the cursor you have to shoot at.

Who's with me? I don't think this would be so hard to do for someone who's into coding stuff - just wonder if Andy will give his permition and help with code or something. I want this because it matters so much HOW you hold the gun and shoot and everyone is doing it differently. I can't use a static calibtration without having people complain about the accuracy.

last bump. I still think that this would be a great tool and we should ask Andy about it.

Happy to co-operate but I dont really understand what you mean. The Aimtrak requires no software to calibrate and this should only need to be done when the guns are first installed.

The OP's goal is to recalibrate the gun each time a game is started because people of varying heights and shooting styles will be firing from different positions.

Just out of curiosity, is there a way to trip the calibration process via command line?
It would be a simple matter to make an autohotkey script that would throw up a splash screen with targets on it, then exit upon a key press.

exactly what i mean. I had a lot of people complaining about the accuracy of the guns. always had to tell them it's because they are not shooting like I do.

I really like badmouth idea about the script. couldn't write it but maybe badmouth could as long as we could get an exe file that gives the possibility of calibration. it doesn't need to be fancy. a simple explanation of what to do for people who never used the guns before.

something I forgot: a nice addon would be a red dot after the calibration to check the accuracy. you have to shoot off screen to accept the calibration or shoot onscreen to recalibrate.
