Title: Installed Cap Kit.
Post by: PacManFan on October 11, 2003, 11:08:33 pm
Hey everyone, I just installed a makeshift cap kit(Radio Shack shopping) into my WG19k4901. Everything went well and now I've got a perfectly working monitor! This monitor had a real wavy picture with "jail bars" all across the screen before I did it.. This is the first cap replacement I've done for a monitor, and the first time I discharged a monitor.
I know I sound a little excited, I just wanted to share.

Since you are posting, I guess that means you survived the process!  ;)

Congrats on your first cap kit.  As long as you do it safely, they are a breeze, aren't they?  I mention the safety part because I just zapped myself just a few days ago dinking around with a monitor.  It wasn't too bad, just enough to tick me off, cuss, and throw a screwdriver across the garage for being stupid.  :)

I particularly like the K4600/4900 monitors for their bright & clear picture, but they can be a pain to fix when some components fail.  Thanks for posting a successful cap kit experience!

Glad to hear of your success. Of course if you bought your caps at Radio Shaft then you paid too much.
