Hey guys/gals.
Im about to start a new project but im looking for a specific part if anyone can help me..im looking for a spring activated Lock hinge.
I am building a Touchscreen coffee table soon....i want the monitor to be built into the cabinet and attached to a plate/arms and one the monitor is pushed down on the TV will rise at an angle towards me. Then once i push the monitor/tv down flat it locks into position again.
I have been looking and came across this but it doesnt seem spring activated or lock....Friction hinge
Can anyone help on this? or advise me how i could have the Tv raise towards me when i push down on screen?
thanks in advance

Got a link for the one you found?
It may help people get a better picture of what you're looking for.

Something like that....but it has to be spring loaded or something as stated that will raise a tv/monitor from a horizontal to about 45-60 degrees viewing angle...when sitting on sofa

Sounds like you're planning something that works like "Project Morph (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,105808.msg1120798.html#msg1120798)" by g-rock26.
This thread (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,120787.msg1281774.html#msg1281774) talks a bit more about the build and has a link to the actuator and talks about about the shroud to mask the backside when tilted up..

Thanks for the help/links....
the above work looks awsome job and well done to the builder...however...im looking for the same kind of lift as we have on P.Morph but without an actuator as such,im looking for more like a push like hinge as stated(like the lid on a centrifuge)....you depress lid and the hinge open/rises slowly with springs etc......
Any more ideas would be appreciated as always

I would probably look into a hydraulic piston for automotive applications. If you own a hatchback, van or SUV with a flip rear or any number of other autos with a door that opens up. One should be sufficient to overcome the weight of the monitor unless you went crazy on the size.
For the latch, I would go magnetic and use the type that "lock/unlock" into position. Super common on entertainment centers though kitchen cabinets use them except they don't have a lot of travel. However IKEA uses magnetic latches that have nearly an inch of travel.
I would opt for this method because of the use of standard parts, hence, a little easier to source.
I can't see the Project Morph videos so my apologies if that's how it was done.
