Title: spiral gumball machine question
Post by: uolarethian on October 11, 2012, 07:04:38 pm
I just picked up a 5' spiral gumball machine made by victor. As far as i can tell i am missing a part, i think its the gum guide. If anyone has one of these machines could you take off the coin mech and snap me a good picture of the inside so I can have a clue of what i am looking for.

Thanks guys.

I dont think it has to be a victor machine, they all look to have the same basic parts inside.

Funny enough I was looking at the mechanisms for gumball machines a few days ago thinking of using it to make a diy vending machine.

I'm not sure if this will help or not as i'm not sure which part you need but hopefully it will.

Hopefully this has what you need.

Thanks but nope, I have one of the large spiral gumball machines and the piece that is missing only catches the ball after it comes out of the globe and before gets to the internal ramp which sends the ball to the visible spiral ramp.  But thanks for the effort.

No idea.  If some parts are indeed interchangeable perhaps you can find what you need in here: http://www.aaglobal.com/images/bulk-vending/bulk-vending-machine-equipment-parts/replacement-parts/replace_parts.pdf (http://www.aaglobal.com/images/bulk-vending/bulk-vending-machine-equipment-parts/replacement-parts/replace_parts.pdf)

Happy hunting.

If it's hidden from view and is a non-moving part (or a simple pivot) then I'd suggest trying to crudely make one real quick out of a low-temp thermoplastic (Amazon has a few varieties... instamorph, friendly plastic... there are others.  The makershed store carried a variety but I can't recall the name and I'm not sure if they still carry it).  They come in pellet form and you just melt them in hot water out of the microwave and shape them however you want.  When they cool they'll be fairly sturdy with a little flex (depending on how thin the part is).  I wouldn't use it for gears but it should be fine for catchin' a gumball.

Just got some free time to get back to this, here is a picture of what i am working with.  I am sure i could make something but I would like to find out what originally there.  I also need to fix the spiral but that is an easy fix, just need to get the time.

Does any one have one of these gumball machines?
