Title: Mame32 vs. Mame64
Post by: gman314 on October 09, 2012, 02:13:37 pm
I know that there are numerous technical differences between the two.  I'm also aware that people have run benchmark tests comparing performance.  However, on Win XP Pro, AMD 64 dual core CPU, 4 GB ram, is there a noticeable difference between the two?  Have I been cheating myself all these years by using a compiled version of Mame32?  Will my system be able to handle Mame64 just as well?

I believe you need a 64 bit OS to run mame64

You do. That's the reason for it. It's a 64-bit program for 64-bit OSes. BOO-YAH.

Do 64-bit programs have better performance on 64-bit OSes than 32-bit programs?  Maybe. Usually, I guess. Does 64-bit MAME?  Ask Arby!  (Or....wait for it.....you could Wiki 64-bit OS. For that matter, you Wiki MAME. OH.)
