I'm stumped. I've resolved nearly every component except this one. (and the ball return... And the shell mount.....etc but those are for later....)
I just can't seem to simplify and build my own comparable part while still keeping it a reasonable size.
I figured using a LM8UU or comparable linear bearing would do the trick. But I just end up with a lot more bulk just to transfer the motion across. I suppose I could brake a piece of aluminum but those dimensions work out to be pretty trim... Not to mention mounting the linear bearings.
Any ideas?

0riginally they just used plastic sleeves.
Maybe get yourself a big thick plastic board...something made out of polyethylene (UHMWPE). (as it will have a slippery "self lubricating" property but still be hard) it's often used as wear material on assemblies where chains or other metal parts must go over or around a part...but not sutible for a gear or other guide.

cut a rectangle out of it and drill a hole through it. Then attach your rod to that. your belt whatnot can attach to the block as well.
