Title: Problem with Paradise Arcade LED Buttons - Wiring/Burnout

Hello,

I have had the illuminated 12v LED Push Buttons from Paradise Arcade Shop for over a year now and they keep burning out on me. Every couple of months the LEDs begin flickering and eventually burn out and have to be replaced.

I have them connected directly to the 12v molex on my MAME PC's PSU. Spliced directly on. May seem dirty but all of my other 12v LED illumination for my cabinet is connected this way without any problems for years now.

Does anybody know any reason why these LEDs specifically would be burning out? I thought maybe its a resistance problem or something but I don't know enough about the subject.

Good question. I think we're at 6 LED's replaced now. I have two LED Start buttons (P1 and P2) and I've had to replace them at least 3 times in the last year alone so that should be about 6 total.

Have you tried running them on 5v? :dunno

No, but I'll give it a shot tonight when I get home and report back here with results.

Okay, it's connected to the 5v. Working good so far. I'll have to keep it running today and report back after 48 hrs of burn in.

Are you certain of that the LEDs actually delivered to you is the 12V model?

Good news if you accidently ordered the 5v version by accident.

Paradise now carries 12v replacement LEDs in white (http://www.paradisearcadeshop.com/en/button-leds/520-red-12-volt-led.html), red (http://www.paradisearcadeshop.com/en/button-leds/519-red-12-volt-led.html), blue (http://www.paradisearcadeshop.com/en/button-leds/521-red-12-volt-led.html), green (http://www.paradisearcadeshop.com/en/button-leds/522-red-12-volt-led.html), and (unfortunately) "yellow".

Protip:
If you want your yellow button to be sunny yellow instead of sickly pumpkin orange, DO NOT USE THE "YELLOW" LEDs.  Use white LEDs instead--order a white LED for each black rimmed yellow button (http://www.paradisearcadeshop.com/en/led-pushbuttons/676-yellow-black-rimmed-convex-led-lighted-arcade-pushbutton.html) to be sure. (I placed one of the early orders on this product, and Bryan may have since changed the LEDs to white. :dunno) 

The yellow translucent buttons (http://www.paradisearcadeshop.com/en/led-pushbuttons/233-yellow-led-convex-arcade-pushbutton.html) come with the white LEDs and those look great, as do the black rimmed yellows when they have white LEDs.
