I'm taking this back.
-
Katey Sagal is awesome. That is all.
-
I used to watch it a lot later at night while I was playing video games/working on projects, etc.
-
I thought Christina Applegate was hot...

She's actually aged really well, too.

Her boobs are even younger.

It's not like she got them done for vanity's sake.

Uhm, actually, yes she did.

So you think women that have double mastectomies should not have reconstruction? That getting reconstruction after a mastectomy is all for vanity?
-
Where did I say she SHOULD not have had it done? Her body, her money.
I don't think it serves any practical purpose. Perhaps I'm wrong.
:dunno

The lady who played Mrs. Howell from Gilligan's Island used stuffing after her double mastectomy.
Your welcome for that visual. >:D

The Skipper, however, was all natural.

It probably wasn't her money... Insurance companies pay for reconstruction after mastectomies.

I agree 100% :notworthy:

Does trying to stop your receding hairline have any practical purpose? Nope, but damn if I'm not doing what I can to stop it anyhow! Not practical at all, but I like to keep my hair where it is as long as I can.
I agree it's her money (whether through insurance or out of her pocket), spend it how she wants.
Also Married with Children.... awesome show, watched it every week. Fiancee doesn't get it, but I still love her. ;D
-
crackle.com has it. Theme song is missing and replaced with something else. ???
Last night I watched the episode about the Ferguson toilet. ;D

You are wrong. You're wrong about cosmetic surgery never serving a practical purpose, but more fundamentally you're wrong about the meaning of vanity. Caring about your appearance doesn't make you vain. Vanity speaks to excess. I doubt that many people consider cosmetic reconstruction after a disfiguring surgery to be excessive.
-
Married with Children to a philosophical discussion on Vanity.
Well played Mr. Jim.

Except that she hasn't gone around showing her tits off in 20 years. (if someone has photographic evidence disproving this, I'd love to see it)
When she had them removed, she turned it into a mass media story.
When she had them reconstructed, it was again in the news.
This isn't like replacing a nose that got chopped off. It could have been kept private and nobody would have ever known.
Despite what Susan Komen's minions tell you, breast cancer does not need more awareness.
-
Whatever that means
-
There is a backlash growing against all of the super profitable breast cancer awareness events while other forms of cancer are perceived as ignored. He's not the first person I have heard say that and it may not sound great but the sentiment is valid. It's not a "breast cancer isn't a problem" sentiment. It's more of a "we all know about breast cancer - let's get some funding for other types of research now, kthx" sentiment.
I rarely side with him on anything but I can't fault that one.
-
That's not the part that makes no sense. It's the part about Christina Applegate adding her voice to Breast Cancer awareness out of vanity rather than, say, cos she was afflicted by a horrible disease that was likely to kill her (and is still reasonably likely to), the cure of which involved cutting off her tits and enduring horrible bouts of chemotherapy and radiation. I'm probably just grasping at straws here, but maybe that's the cause of her activism.

Yeah, the Komen organization has some issues: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/12/07/komen-foundation-charities-cure_n_793176.html (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/12/07/komen-foundation-charities-cure_n_793176.html)... hopefully the good they do outweighs their administrative stupidity.

Ah, yeah, that's probably beyond his ability to empathize.

Bah Woosh! A man's flush.
It I think would go a long way in helping her cope with it. I'd hate the public knowing my boobs had to come off if i had them.
Steve Rhodes or Jefferson Darcy?
-
I didn't know she had cancer. Actually, she opted to cut them off; and apparently breast cancer, or at least genetically determined bc, doesn't come from somewhere else, but starts there and spreads elsewhere. So she nipped it in the bud. I doubt many....or any....males could do the same with testicular cancer.
You can't compare breasts and testicles medically... at all. You can compare men's and women's breasts. You can compare (somewhat) ovaries to testes. Having breasts removed doesn't automatically require lifelong hormonal treatment the way that removing the testes or ovaries does. You're not wrong, there aren't lines of guys waiting to be neutered, but the comparison doesn't hold water.
I like Christina. Always have. I'm glad she has new bewbs. I'm for them too.
-
Steve, but Jefferson had a great moment at the TV Hall of Fame.
-
Hot women make us buy beer. Ugly women make us DRINK beer!
Yep, on a married with children marathon myself. :D

Also, Married...with Children rocks! I feel bad for the Generation Z's that missed out on so much comedic gold! Thank god for netflix and torrents...there is still hope for this gen.
Can I get a whooooa-bundy??

WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOA-Bundy!

I would say:
"Hooters, hooters - yum yum yum; hooters, hooters - on a girl that's dumb!"
-
Applegate is hosting SNL this week, I guess, 19 years after last hosting.

Komen is a trash organization. They give a very small percent to actual "for the cure" research and yet sue the pants off anyone who uses that statement. They are also very politically involved, which a charity shouldn't be doing as well.

Ugh. This Married with Children thread is veering dangerously towards the topic of neuticles.

(Chad already used the better fitting "Shoot me, $12" pic)

neuticles.
I googled that. Ugh is correct.
